ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The Honeymoon period consisted of one win at an awful Chelsea.

The rest of the games have been virtually the same old jarg that Rodgers served up with some more running about.

After each unremarkable showing we've had to listen to quilts like Mickey "2 large steak and ale over here lad" Quinn, spouting garbage along the lines of "yeah, well we were largely mince and didn't win, but der signs are all there like, plenty of running about and dat"

The simple fact remains that he's working with a disjointed and unbalanced squad, who's main striker has a month off at the first signs of a stubble rash and a defence that's so awful that a bandied legged donkey like Sakho has somehow managed to attain cult status, amongst the cultists.

I rate Klopp and there is a danger he'll get it right over there, but he's going to need a massive wedge of cash and plenty of time to dismantle the current mess and make the team his own.

It remains to be seen whether they'll soon tire of the reality of that process.

Columnist Ian O'Doherty has been heavily criticised for claiming that Liverpool should have a 'permanent black armband' on their kit because the club go 'through so many commemorations of disasters and deaths'.

is it me or did he not make any indication towards hillsborough? It was a terrible tragedy, we all know that, there's no need to try and divert everything back to it as a way of points scoring though.

However, Sky Sports pundit Thompson does not blame fans from leaving a sodden Anfield before the final whistle, but insisted he would never follow suit.

"I could say it is not Liverpool-like, but people do have to leave early," Thompson said.

"We have seen it at places like the Emirates, because it is difficult getting away, people do live different distances away from the ground - there are mitigating circumstances.

That is the highlight for me. not only is thompson doing the 'well i wouldn't leave early' routine but he is justifying why other fans do leave as well!

Oh its nothing to do with the fans not being happy, they have just got to get home!

I just love how he's unknowingly alienating himself from the fools at Shamfield. Firstly he stamps on Shankly’s grave with his ‘it is only football, it is not important’ chat. Then he says they need to ‘Calm down’. Now he has a go at all those lads legging it before full time to catch their planes back to Oslo.

you just know Klopp is going to have a breakdown at some point, cast among the lunacy surrounding that club
Bound to mate. He's as mad as a bag of weasels on that touchline and over time managers and fans will start to popcorn him, especially if results start going against them. He's already had a pop at some random in the stands

He's spot on with both points about the general mawkishness of football (being used as a vehicle for public displays of grief that our best kept private) and the specifically LFC related point.
