Loving the projected bottom 3.

Four grown fellas who are the hardcore backbone of Liverpool fc, representing there real and true fan base (if you've ever been a pub on Merseyside when their playing this bellwhiffery is rampant). They seem to live in a sorta grotto cum chapel dedicated to their life's dream, proper hardcore fans these 4 beauts......
Yet not one of em has bothered to get off their sad arses and buy a ticket and go down to the game. How's about cutting back on the stained glass windows of Liverpool players and go and really support your team you utter cockspanners!!!
I am probably not reading that how you intended, but I had a little chuckle.

Do they ever play away after Europe? Think they have once this season and that was against us! They're having an easy ride with the Europa in comparison to Spurs going to Arsenal after their match.

My take on post-away Europa games and PL fixtures is the following:

1) Performance expected to drop after a mid-week European game. More so if the distance involved is considerable. Less time to prepare for the next game is as much a factor as travelling.
2) The impact will be greater the closer to the weekend the game will have taken place - Thursday night Europa the prime incidence.

If one accepts these are givens: Then one should apply the following logic: If the team's results will suffer, and they usually do, with the better teams averaging (ballpark) 50% more points at home than away (let's say 45-30 in the season). So it follows that an away game is to be preferred if performance will dip. Far better to lose one point (lose instead of draw) that 2 (draw instead the most frequent home result which is a win). The argument about the strength of the opponent is also worth making but the stronger teams also most likely playing in Europe.

RAWK will love this analysis.

I think it's just a confidence thing though isn't it. When you from a difficult European away to a tricky prem away the toll on the team is brutal, you lose the prem game and you're under pressure. Liverpool have Palace this weekend at home. They can still beat them at home and avoid any hangover but the game would be a lot more difficult away. It's unbelievable that Liverpool do not have one away game (apart from us) after a European match. Combined with their usual luck in only drawing home ties in domestic cups, they had a run of four home games in a row earlier in the season. Fortunately Rodgers botched it but a good manager uses that to build great momentum. The fixtures as ever have fallen kindly for everyone's favourite team.

I might have missed something big here.. but i'll say it anyway.

How is Spurs going to Arsenal after a European game any different to Liverpool coming here after a European game? lol
