ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Like @Eggs said, the league is still very tight. Until they start dropping away, they're still well capable of scraping together a couple of spawny wins to stay in and around the top end of the table.
Have you seen their October fixtures? :celebrate:

Us after a Europa League game
Spurs away
Southampton home after a Europa League game
Chelsea away

They will do well to be top half after that run.

Other things are being looked at too, goals scored, either poor refereeing or long rangers, and not many of them, they picked up their points early and are starting to realise they were fortunate in those games, their form is now going in the wrong direction

....whilst nobody is happier than me to revel in their misery, I look at the league table and they are a point behind us and not far off 4th. Like us they are also in the last 16 of the League Cup with a decent home draw. I'm old and have have been reminded many times why some call them the Devil's Club. Don't count them out until they are out. Just saying.
I would usually agree with this but the last couple of years it seems like the devil realises he was getting a whole load of bellends
for his part of the deal,in days gone by it would have been us beating City with an own goal or some fluke and handing them the title
the Chelsea and Villa semis would have swung in their favour thanks to a friendly ref,so unless satan is setting us up for a grand practical joke I think the days of pact are over

....I so hope you are right, Jaycee.

Very true, but if results go against them today they could be 2 places above the drop zone tonight!!

So could we in fairness! It's still too early to be looking at the table. This early on, looking at form and performances of teams and individual players is more telling. Despite there only being a point in it between us and them, we're the team who look more likely to pick up more points.

Got a feeling they'll be above us after Monday night, can see them beating Villa, who, Sunderland and Liverpool aside are probably playing the worst stuff in the league right now. They're at home though so they'll spawn a win. We'll then draw with WBA, and we'll proceed to snot them in the derby if we even remotely turn up. Then Brenda goes.

Ditto! Some people have already been suggesting that we'll easily beat them in the derby, to which I gave them a selection of choice words.

They may not be playing well and Brenda's tenure may rightly be coming to an end, but they've already still amassed a few lucky points.

“What is clear, in the couple of years I’ve been here, is when we’ve had the availability of top-class players, I think I’ve proven I can build a team that plays a way of football that excites and challenges at the top end of the table........ Brendan Rodgers

“Even in terms of our squad, against Norwich we had quality [Firmino, Ings, who scored, and Lallana] coming off the bench. We’ve got top class players.......... Nathaniel Clyne

Nice to see manager and player singing from the same hymn sheet. Er....

I saw that quote in a few articles and these bits in the guardian made me smile.

however, he issued several reminders of his ability to create a title-challenging team “when we’ve had the availability of top-class players.”

As manager I’ll always work with the players at the club and the ones you bring in. What is clear, in the couple of years I’ve been here, is that when we’ve had the availability of top-class players I’ve proven I can build a team that plays a way of football that excites

It's still not his fault they're awful after £300m, but he's great given top class players..

Rodgers: I won't leave the club unless the owners want me out

Translated. 'I'm a goner but wont leave because I will get no compensation'.

"“ Whilst I’m here, I’ll always do the best I can. I’m never going to walk away because I’ll always have belief that I can improve players and make things better.”

So it doesn't matter then who the transfer committee give him he will improve them?

Balotelli - "The Milan manager, Sinisa Mihajlovic, said: “The real Balotelli has returned, and he can now handle the provocation. He was perfect, the best player on the pitch".

Aspas - "Iago Aspas scored twice as Celta Vigo sent Barcelona crashing to a 4-1 defeat to temporarily go top of La Liga. After disappointing spells at Liverpool and Sevilla, Aspas is back to his best this season having returned to Celta.".

As soon as player get away from Rodgers they get better. Downing another one who got better. Martin Kelly - defender who is better than any they have on their books.

Continue talking bull Mr Clever, that is all you have going for you.
