Tbf I think Couthino, Can Sterling and Ibe are counted in it the first two just turned 22. Sterling came from QPR and Ibe Wycombe.

They havnt produced one player organically from their academy locally for their first team bar Flannagan.

I find that article really disingenuous when you consider the players we have produced locally.

I'm assuming that they have based this crap on minutes played by a player/s under the age of 21 and not based on how many players have actually been picked? If that's the case then Sterling has played the majority of the season so would account for 98% of them playing players under 21 surely?

The full back on loan from Athlethico is also 21 played 10 times - Basically no one came through their academy bar Flannagan.

I think there academy has actually slightly improved compared to how crap it used to be. Still a long way though I reckon from bringing through another Gerrard type player or a Carragher. I was talking about this to a colleague today and saying it's absolute criminal for clubs not to be producing local lads. Luckily I think we have a good crop coming through the next few years so we should see a few homegrown lads at least be given the chance.
