PS by way of explanation (and I should attribute source to a Manc fan on Red Café) : the 'alternative league table' is a concept thought up by Liverpool fans which shows the true measure of how well a club is doing. Statistics like 'number of times shots have hit the bar,' 'total blades of grass on pitch' and 'highest punt,' can be used. Amazingly Liverpool nearly always come out on top, or very near the top. It's much more accurate than the actual league table, the latter being way too limiting in that it only shows results.
