Brentie? How about the Law of Averages working For us for a change no? Try This one - We've Not beaten them in the FA Cup Since the Very emotional Final in that awful, dark, dark year of 1989 over 2 decades ago!! We've played them Twice since in the competition & lost Both after various numbers of Replays - How about just maybe now? It's Us that's due a lucky one whatever the b*stard stirring Media & Jealous envious fans of other clubs (All of them) might think? Maybe it's Our turn & this time? We are the ones to say "Third Time Lucky" & You know what? I've got a feeling it Will be to; No way will we lose That game - Not against them, not on That date - Not at That venue - It just Won't happen - With us the confidence I believe is masking a form of cautious optimism; With Everton judging by the sheer amount of Noise they've made re' How confident they are & the old saying "empty vessels make the most noise" as well as their ****e recent record v us in mind?
Well given all that? I think Their fans confidence masks something Quite different to ours - outright panic, to say they dread Another defeat to us in one season? Is putting it mildly - They're just shouting so much now to make the possibility of it as the game draws near recede a little in their own tormented, bitter, twisted little minds but make no mistake - Another defeat to Liverpool & in a semi-final of All games? Wouldn't so much Really hurt as mortally wound the more fanatical of them - We'd probably not hear from them for another decade after it - It would be a Huge blow to them like nothing else which is why they're now immediately pulling out all the stops with their "poor 'ickle people's club" image, truckloads of articles in the press painting them as the poor relations of our big, bad, decades old, unfairly assisted Red Empire sat across the park from them in what is laughably painted as Their city apparently full of Blues fans from the amongst 'people'. It gives them readymade excuses for such a defeat at best & helps turn Public Opinion (or what's left of it re' us) against us at worst (even a recent article by one of their players going on about how good it was for such a semi-final for the People of Liverpool is a pretty obvious dig at us since it also says "particularly for Everton fans" soon after said point.
In short? The sound & fury is intended to scare us & give them an advantage if at all possible & to obscure their true ****eness & lowly level as compared to their (admittedly) great sides of yesteryear if you ask me - You can tell even amongst their fans it's bravado - Normally when they play us they worry about & discuss losing but not here - The possibilities barely considered & all who try? Are traitors apparently - I've never Seen a more obvous case of False bravado nor one with less use since I'm not outright predicting victory but what I Am this time which I wasn't last time we met them in the Cup? Is confident. I'm pretty certain we'll turn up (as in 'up for it') & if we Do? The rest Will take care of itself. Not that all this noise from them will Stop the possibility of us winning mind - Simply put - If we turn up & I'm pretty certain we'll be up for This one like Nothing before? But if we're 'up' for it? Then our quality as compared to theirs Will shine through & in the end? We'll win - simple as. It won't be easy, nothing like the stroll of last time we met & I suspect it will be bitter, niggly & full of controversial incidents & that's just Off the pitch!! But in the end? We've got More than enough to do them again provided we apply ourselves to the job in hand & with Kenny in charge? I'm pretty certain we will do just that. I don't know how & I don't know if it will be easy or hard & I've no doubt they'll have their excuses ready in the event of a defeat; Though this time with their 'full' team expected to be out? There really aren't any if you think about it. However one thing I'm absolutely sure of is in the end? If we Let them make all the noise & fury in the buildup to the game - Let 'the nation' (or at least that portion of it that watches Sky & listens to Talksport) go into the game thinking we're some combination of the worst parts of Genghis Khan & Stalin with some of Chairman Mao's nasty tendencies thrown in for good measure & then when the whistle blows? We instead apply ourselves properly & do our talking with the football? Well if that happens then I'm pretty confident that in the end? We'll Beat them......again. In fact thinking about it? That's precisely how I can see the next two weeks playing out; We'll win in the end - Mark my words.....................
