From Sunderland's RTG forum on the subject of Brenda lecturing Man U's new manager:
"Rodgers is big on sincerity. He has the country's biggest private collection of val doonican records to prove it".
What does he mean by "nearly going out of business"? They had rich American owners before their current rich American owner. Were they genuinely close to administration only a couple of years ago?
If not, Brenda is making a horrendous comment.

Liverpool: Is administration the rational next step?
Comments
Robert Peston | 14:08 UK time, Thursday, 14 October 2010
I'm about to disappear into an edit suite for a bit, to concentrate on matters other than Liverpool FC (yes, there is other stuff happening in the world - although nothing as absurd).
So this is where I think we are.
RBS is beginning to have doubts whether the £200m-plus from Mill Financial will turn up - and my contacts with Mr Hicks's people suggest that may well be a rational fear. No-one seems to believe that the high court will have any effect on the ability of Mr Hicks to frustrate the sale to NESV through the Texas courts.
What does that all mean? Well, I think it means that we're in a bit of the corporate universe characterised by what statisticians would call Knightian uncertainty. To put it another way, I have no bloomin' idea where this will end up.
One plugged-in bloke tells me NESV can't possibly win it now. Another whom I trust tells me NESV will ultimately emerge the victor.
What I think is that Royal Bank of Scotland has a hideous decision later today.
If there's no serious prospect of a clean takeover of Liverpool being effected in the next day or so, can it really justify extending the deadline for repayment of the bank debt?
Or is it now rational for RBS to put Liverpool FC into administration under insolvency procedures, so that it can take direct control of the sale process, strip Messrs Hicks and Gillett of any power to interfere, and pass Liverpool to the most credible new owner with the deepest pockets (which might be NESV, or might still be the Singapore tycoon, Peter Lim)?
Update, 1432: Peter Lim says he is withdrawing his offer to buy Liverpool, because it has become clear to him (he says) that "the board is intent on selling the club to NESV to the exclusion of all other parties, regardless of the merits of their bids".
He says that if the "circumstances" were to change, he might be persuaded to re-enter the fray.
Update 1749: OK, maybe Liverpool is back on course to be bought by NESV.
The high court has ordered Tom Hicks to withdraw the restraining order on the deal which he obtained from a Texas court.
He has until 1600 tomorrow (UK time) to comply.
Liverpool's management seems optimistic that - at last - the ownership uncertainty will be resolved in the way it wants.
But Mr Broughton and his colleagues have thought that before, and been disappointed.
It went right up to the High Court to save LFC from administration, and the customary 10 point deduction that would have followed.
arsenal-mania said:They live in a circle-jerking echochamber where they're constantly fed images of their former glories and plenty of lube to go with it.
If the images aged like women though they're wanking off to granny porn at this rate. Joke of a club. The fact that Brendan Rodgers has already reached deity status says everything you need to know about that club.
And another one. You can't big up yourself by belittling someone like Dalglish. Dalglish Mark II still won a trophy, and only had one season so never got the chance to improve league position.
...and brought in Suarez, who single handedly kept gnashers in a job.
Dalglish will bide his time and plunge the knife in...deep.
He's not going to be able to get away with managing expectations for too much longer. I suspect any stock he's built up will soon fall this season when they struggle - last season will be put down to Suarez's efforts and he'll be struggling badly if they dont get CL qualification. Buttering that lot up can only buy you so much time.I reckon it will be one more trophyless season before the chants of 'Dalglish' come back. If Brendan goes 3 seasons without a trophy surely they wont still revere him like a god. Previous managers have been fired for less. This season is make or break for him and without Suarez to gloss over the gaping quality gap in their squad I think it will be a hilarious car crash. Der best fans in der world will be patient though won't they? They all believe in der filosofee.
This has had tears running down my face!! "lob on"?????

Rodgers has always looked like a transition manager. Hopeless first season. Even last season when they were doing well you have to separate the wheat from the chaff - great goalscoring (with a player he inherited; Conference class defending). And he talks a good talk about improving players, but goes out and buys practically a new team to replace last season's.I have said before in this thread I give him a season and a half maybe before the slippy and carralaaa dream team take over, this season he will be covered by Chewy deserting them and fa oil clubs spending money while they count the pennies but I predict 6th place and a loss of goal scoring form from Sturridge will see the Judas effect take hold of the deluded
