Don't take my word for it bu I think it was more down to the fact that we were banned from Europe that year when we were hotly touted as the best team in Europe... They took great pleasure in the fact we were dened a very realistic chance of European cup victory ..... Not saying we would have won it but we very definitely could have.may sound a bit weird here and thick but you know that Bucharest flag they had up? Were they actually happy that they done it so english teams couldn't get in Europe? when did they stop it?

i still to this day do not understand the decision to band all english clubs because of those horrible, distasteful "humans". Ban them red kunts, but why the **** did we suffer. They are the jammiest set of supporters who will ever live, pisses me off royally.
Know where you are coming from mate, but that was the latest in a long line of incidents including loads of English clubs.
Still a bunch of [Poor language removed] though, and will never forgive them for the gloating they took from us being banned for doing feck all wrong. Norwich suffered as well I seem to recall
There continues to be a long line of incidents involving the likes of Italians and Turkish clubs but can't remember them being thrown out of anything. The ****e should of been banned and the ****e alone. We showed in Rotterdam how proper fans can act so for us to be punished was disgraceful.
UEFA wanted english clubs out. end of.
This country was dominating. They hated the english anyway. Must have been galling for them to see english clubs win everything. Liverpool had won 2 european cups in the 80s - got to 2 finals in a row as well. Villa and Forest had both won, spurs won the uefa cup and we won the CWC.
UEFA wanted us out and hesyel gave them the chance.
On 31 May, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher put pressure upon the FA to withdraw English clubs from European competition,[15] and two days later UEFA banned English clubs for "an indeterminate period of time"
A memorial service for those killed in the disaster was held before Liverpool's match with Arsenal on 18 August 1985, however according to The Sydney Morning Herald, it was "drowned out" by chanting
Missed a trick here the R/S, there's that many kopites reading Fergies book they shoulda sold it in the KopShop and got commision.

Perhaps, though lets not forget that English football was in a very dark place for much of that successful period. Not only the hooligan stuff, but the utter lack of recognition that the FA had for ground safety over at least a decade led directly to more than a hundred and fifty people being killed.
