It has emerged that Dave Sloan, the popular chauffeur who is taking Liverpool to an employment tribunal hearing next Wednesday, lost his job at Anfield following an allegedly serious altercation with senior club staff at a Christmas function last year.
Sloan might have plenty to say at the hearing having ferried around the Liverpool hierarchy — including successive owners Tom Hicks, George Gillett and John Henry — since Christian Purslow was chief executive.
Liverpool's internal dealings have been constantly in the spotlight in recent years, be it through TV documentaries or the fall-out from big disciplinary issues.
Sloan is said to have blown the whistle at alleged club malpractice. But Liverpool have declined to comment on that matter.
