ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Herr Shippmann said not so long ago....

"Clubs can go and spend money on top players. I want to do it differently. The day that is football, I'm not in the job anymore."

Since then he's spunked £605,250,000 on 32 players, so he's either jacking the job in soon or he's chatting wham again as per usual.

Diaz and the lad from Fulham have been bought as the rumour is Salah is off in the summer. Won’t sign a new deal.

Makes sense. Diaz, Jota, Elliott and Carvalho. No way they need 2 more wingers with Mane and Salah. Preparing for departures. Just hope someone like PSG doesnt throw stupid money at them in the summer for Salah. Mane still no sign of renewing either.

Keita, AOC and Firmino all 18 months left hopefully no idiots overpay for them either

I can see him at PSG to be honest. If that keeps them from bidding for Richie then happy days. Probably be about £100 million then then the reds can cream themselves over the net spend.

If that is what they are doing, and I have no idea, its actually pretty sensible.

The glitch in the plan may be that sides just talk the players up for expensive bosmans, like what happened with Wijnaldum, Can etc.

Chatting wham, but the media lap it up.

Diaz I think they are getting him settled for the next 6 months. Mane has been poor for a while but still a very good player and probably sees himself on a par with Salah so holding out to see what he gets.

As you say, hopefully they have bern tapped up and see their contract out. Same with AOC, Keita and Firmino who will all be in the last year in the summer. Origi may be free too this summer. Lets hope no morons buy them for stupid money

I think it is a difficult negotiation for them. Salah will want to pitch himself to the biggest earners in the world, and Mane will want to pitch himself to Salah. You will also then get the likes of VVD, Henderson, Allison etc all wanting their contracts upped (they may be automatically) if that happens. So it's difficult for FSG.

I think for the most part, they act very smartly FSG, but not wholly convinced they have done so with this incident. Salah is winning not them, his value is going up by the week really. If he started the season wanting 400k per week, that will likely be 500-600k now and probably more come the summer. He is becoming more valuable. There seemed to be some argument he would have nowhere to go, which I always found odd. Theres a whole host of huge clubs, who specialise in taking top PL stars around 30 years of age for big wages.

It is difficult though, as this is structural for them. To a degree it's the Spurs conundrum at a higher level. You essentially underpay a lot of top players but eventually they want to leave to get their market rate. I think if they had moved Salah on, Mane and Firmino would have been easier to tie down.

They seem to be rebuilding though, which is sensible. Jota has been a good signing, and this Diaz looks promising. So will be interesting to see if they can transition teams effectively.
