ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Gotta be Ralf hasn't it mate, this is the guy who influenced the ones older before him like Rinus Michaels, Johan Cruyff, Tomaslav Ivic, Valeriy Lobanovsky, Arrigo Sacchi to change their ways, the modern greats of Tuchel, Klopp, Flick, Heynkes, Guardiola, football would be no where today without the great Ralf Rangnick aka The Professor.

We are seeing the greatest coach ever in the history of football finally in the PL who created pressing, highline defending, transitions and the 4222 formation.

Go team Ralf.
Trying too hard there mate.

Definate shades of the Serie A Calciopoli scandal going on in the Premier League these days, the same few clubs getting helped every week, no chance it will be investigated though
I thought the same, really soft penalties for the favoured few at the top. No way on earth those pens happen the other way around. We all know the narrative, skyFAVE player goes down after his shirt has been brushed "there was definite contact, he's entitled to go down"; when it happens the other way around, "there was contact but not enough for me for a penalty".

Anyone who is over 45 years old, the game we know and loved is gone, it wont be long before we move away from it and leave it to the next generation who are happy with a scripted WWF style event

On MOTD, Shearer and Keown struggling to hold back tears at Jimenez red card and City pen

The pen was debatable, the one they got away with however was a pen. So they can't really complain. Interesting that Sky are asking if the VAR bar is too low after our "controversial" penalty. No mention of Salah doing his Stevie Starfish tribute act every week and getting lauded for it. Liverpool, Utd(and this season for some reason Chelsea) would have had 3 or 4 penalties award in that game. The red teams are refereed differently, always have been. It's just that now every game is televised, we all get to see and compare the bias for ourselves.

One thing I did thing was wrong was them allowing Jimenez back onto the pitch after that knock to the head. Football is not taking head injuries seriously enough.

Liverpool fans have now had several seasons where it’s a shock to them if they drop a point at the weekend (and there’s usually a media investigation and a referee to blame it on if they do). This isn’t normal football. Same with City. It’s not normal to be going to European away grounds and hitting teams for 4 or 5 season after season.

The top three in the PL are so far ahead of every team in Europe now except maybe Bayern it’s embarrassing. Liverpool would legitimately expect to batter Madrid Barcelona Juventus Atletico Milan probably even PSG at their own grounds with ease now, maybe not even needing to use their first team. City the same.

It’s an embarrassing state of affairs and it’s laughable people think it’s just normal or just some good training or ‘teams have always been dominant in the past’.

United under Ferguson with probably their greatest ever treble winning side needed a performance of a lifetime to get through their CL semi final against Juve, and even then got battered against Bayern in the final that they were lucky to win. They were praying they didn’t draw Real Madrid at any point also. Even when Fergie had his 07-10 team, Ronaldo Rooney Tevez Vidic Ferdinand in their prime. They got outclassed by Milan and Kaka in 07, they won by the slightest margin in 08 after basically defending for their lives against Barcelona, and then got dismantled by Barcelona and then Inter Milan for three years. This is probably the greatest football manager of all time with his greatest teams, featuring some of the best players in premier league history,

That’s what the CL should be like. Absolute elites of Europe being neck and neck. Not finding you’ve got Roma in the semi finals and going 5-0 up after the first half, or Porto in the quarters and winning 4-0 away in the first leg. The CL now is a complete and utter joke because the elites of English football are now doping beyond belief (both financial and chemical) and the rest of the continent is quite frankly a basket case. Every season now the CL is only between five or six teams.

City Liverpool Chelsea Bayern PSG Madrid

No one else has a realistic chance of winning it. Even Madrid and PSG are unlikely to stand a chance this season. It’s become a joke and is nowhere near the competition it was when seeing the best English teams go up against Europe’s best actually provided some thrill and challenge

This should be nailed to UEFA's door, Martin Luther style.

Its not just an English football issue, British sport has turned a blind eye to doping in the last 10 - 15 years.

Very true, united in their dominant days very rarely went on long winning streaks like the RS and City have, they even won the title with 79 pts one season in the 90s. RS are just breaking decades old records every week now, the latest being 31 successive games which they have scored in, its like the 1930s again.

Very true, but what's the solution. is it because the other teams in the league are so bad ?

Partly that, but also because of the continuity at LFC and City with the top class managers keeping their best players to build around. Chelsea are the only club I can recall that keep changing managers but constantly have no problems achieving success.
