ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Find it bizarre myself. No responsibility whatsoever on the fellow who decided it would be fine to go the game either.
His wife and son have just been on the radio bemoaning his loss and the lack of a proper planned funeral to say goodbye to him. His son, who went the game with him, is now a 'Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice' member, obviously an intellegent lad, but not so savy as to say, "You know what dad, lets give this a game a miss, Madrid is right bang center in the middle of this epidemic. Its not worth taking the risk. Its been all over the news for the last week its not like nobody knows about the danger this game poses, lets just sit in and watch it on the telly."
As is Joel Rookwood, a massive genius and Liverpoo' fan and a senior lecturer in sport business, management and devlopment at the University of Central Lancashire, another clue merchant who also caught Covid at the same match and became seriously ill. He later said, "The decision to have the match and to allow fans to be present should have been taken out of peoples hands."

But then he also said, "The mistake a lot of us made was having 'one more match/night out/trip etc... before a lockdown. We knew what was coming, but a lot of us took the risk." (A Univesity lecturer remember)

The local and national media at the time of the game and weeks before was absolutely full off widespread coverage of the deteriorating situation in Madrid. The Echo, Radio Merseyside, City and even Talksport had raised major questions about the playing of the game and the travelling fans potentially spreading Covid in the locale.
For anybody to say they went to that game not understanding the risks is worthy of a Darwin award, but no doubt 'Deflection FC' will have us all believe nobody knew the risks and will attempt to rewrite history yet again.

For such a big Everton fan you’re the biggest kopite apologist I’ve ever heard

There is no apology whatsoever there - every question raised in Nikom's excellent post should be answered; but no decision on a global pandemic should have been left to a football club. Governments inaction to blame, not UEFA, them or the horseracing authority.

Every post you make is a thinly veined defence of them ... I just find it oddly strange

absolute nonsense - every question raised in Nikom's excellent post should be answered; but no decision on a global pandemic should have been left to a football club. Governments inaction to blame, not UEFA, them or the horseracing authority.

Common sense and self preservation V's Nanny state no accountability syndrome ??
Charles Darwin knows the winner.

It’s not attributed to his post at all, it’s every post you make. If I’m wrong I apologise.. but that’s my opinion.

Its not a decision on a global pandemic, its a decision on the safety of their fans, players and city. IIRC Everton did just that a few days later.

No need to apologise - I seem to have earned this reputation from a few when I argued that "Null and Void" wouldnt happen in practice when covid hit last year. I stuck to my opinion and rationale which was ultimately it was correct, albeit the league was voided in all but a ticking the box exercise

If I think they should be defended on something I wont thinly veil it, I will simply say it

I dont believe you do, from memory; arteta contracted covid on the Thursday night & the PL announced the fixtures abandoned late on the friday afternoon, I dont think any club made an independant decision

Fair enough, however if Everton and Arsenal had gone ahead with that game I would have deemed them culpable as well.

Yep & while I see your point, ultimately the blood is on the hands of that absolute spoofer, who was running around that week saying everything is fine & shaking hands with people in hospitals.

I dont disagree there should have been more action from Liverpool, but all anger needs to be focused on the tories, their ability to divert & distract is frightening.
