ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Gerrard's M.O. at Rangers has been a passive aggressive stance with his board: get a little cash, but always positioning himself as having to be disciplined where money is concerned. A company man. He's a stranger to that scene, but he knows that approach suits Rangers' culture - where deference is demanded (and tolerated by the Rangers fans).

Liverpool is a different kettle of fish on that score, and he would outmanoeuvre FSG amongst the fans, the media and the commentariat.

If you were FSG yould avoid him. However, they might face no alternative if the Liverpool base are fired up for it. It's almost Trumpian.

Is it unfair to say he has basically been a bit better than Neil Lennon, at a time when Celtic have gone a bit crap?

@N.S.N.O. I'd say it's fairly common practice as the markets may have had money thrown in it over night: poor performances, emotions and rumours all intertwined.

If people are throwing money at it, it's prudent to shorten the odds to protect their interests. I suspect they'll go out again, but the sharks are certainly circulating.

He'll stay in the top three or five until the summer because it doesn't look good for him, but I wouldn't read into those odds too much or at least not just yet.

That's the cavaet for Gerrard. I think FSG will want a yes man, who will do as told, and allow their committee to take preacadence, essentially a coach. Ljinders fits that. That will allow for cost cutting to occur and a re-balancing following the Klopp extravagence.

Ljinders will be awful though, as I said yesterday, Gerrard (and Dalglish) will be lurking around like a bad smell, trying to worm their way in.

TBF to him, he's put pressure on Celtic in the last 3 seasons and they've cracked under it.

But this is Scotland and it's a massive gap between there and the PL. He should be nowhere near consideration for the Liverpool job, but football doesn't work that way sometimes.

Spot on mate - one horse race In a pub League with Celtic and Lennon imploding this season - nothing to see here.

I would suggest Rooney is getting better exposure and management experience at Derby than slippy is north of the border.
