ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Let’s be honest, he’s not really in anyone’s who isn’t a Liverpool fan or a pundit on Sky or March of the day.

He’s never anywhere near the actual danger when they do concede. Allison has to deal with about 3 one on ones every game. He gets shown up the biggest games vs Real Madrid which they’ve routinely lost. At one point he was being called Van Disney because his form was so poor as he oscillated between ‘best player ever’ and ‘tries to defend with his aura as he turns his back on every shot’.

He’s had about three good seasons since he’s been there in 18/19, 19/20, and last season. The rest he’s been fairly average.

The top tier for me is Stam, Terry, Ferdinand. Kompany. He’s not in that for me, the rung below alongside the likes of Carvalho Dias Vidic etc. He’s certainly not anywhere near the levels of someone like Ramos, Puyol or Pique or the top Italian CBs like Maldini Nesta Cannavaro Chiellini Bonnuci etc. Just hasn’t done anything at international level and hasn’t been consistent enough at club level. He’s good on the ball but I don’t think the real top defenders would even recognise him as being part of their club, he usually leaves most of the real dirty defending to his CB partner. Konate and Matip before him have propped him up and the minority of Liverpool fans who know anything about football begrudgingly admit this.

Yeah, I've not seen enough of him tbh, but what I have seen, he's just prone to being bullied a bit, which is hilarious because he actually likes to try and be a bully, but as soon as there's a player who's not gonna let him bully them he becomes the bullied one and I've not massively been impressed with his positional sense. I think what it is with him is that when he does play well, he looks classy, but it's never aknowleged when he doesn't play well or makes mistakes. Good player, but like you say, not top tier.

Here's something else that's sticking in my throat at the moment.
We all know their's no such thing as a Liverpool fan its always prefixed with Massive, Big, and so on. Added to their hierarchy now is some identifying as a "loyal, local, fully paid up" Liverpool fan. I saw a lot of this in the immediate aftermath of their victory parade on RS blokes identifying themselves on social media and radio.
I saw this as a way of separating themselves from the absolute blatant number of tellyclappers and touristy fanbase. Anyone else noticing this phenomenon at all?

He's looked superb in the Bundesliga, but there does seem to be a dearth of players who venture over to the Prem and excel.

Plenty who go the other way and do.
Plenty is saying a little much. There are plenty of English players who couldn't make it work in the Bundesliga.
Will need to be a generational talent to justify that fee.
Unfortunately he most likely is. He is miles above the likes of Havertz or Werner ever were and still only 21 or 22. Also seems mentally very strong. Only thing that could go against him in my opinion is that he already had an ACL tear and might be predisposed to pick up more of that.
