ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

To be fair that was the only thing he said. I was expecting him to phone it in and sing their god awful song or wave a red scarf or something. He was too busy wasting time telling us how much he hated Trump in between every song.
Gotta say I have no time for celebrities giving their stupid opinions on politics or sport, unless they're properly informed. Do I wanna hear Liam Gallaghers views on Knife crime in London? Their views are no better than ours. Ed Sheeran interrupting Sky Sports interview was ridiculous.

Bruce Springsteen is a cliched old rocker who made two good albums ever: DOTEOT and Nebraska.

That said, I wouldn't hang him for that comment he made. He mocks our code of football. He couldn't give a shiny one about it and that goes for that football club he was at last night.
Not sure he "mocks" our code of football but agree it's of no significance to him in terms of the primary residents of the venues in which he plays. I've seen him play NFL and baseball stadiums here, and he's never really said anything regarding any of those sports either....perhaps the exception is when he played Jungleland at MSG though that's in the lyrics.

And btw Tunnel of Love was a great album :)......

Saw him last summer mate, seen him a good few times over the years, he’s slowing down a lot on my opinion, he still does crazy sets - but I found he’s doing less in them himself and it’s nearly 80% of the band, still a top performer and he’s an absolute gent to boot - very genuine and down to earth.

There is an absolute gang of diehard who follow him everywhere when he hits this part of the world - you see them with 400+ gigs on Tshirts etc - I’m sure they save just to follow him around the place and really aren’t in there first flush.
Agree. I met him a couple of years ago, and he was absolutely terrific. Very down to earth, easy to talk to and seemed genuinely interested in what you had to say to him as opposed to just wanting to talk about himself. His book is also in my opinion (okay I am biased) very good. Very atypical for a so-called rock icon....

I went to see Michael Bublé at the Echo years ago (don't judge me please - the ticket was free!) and, although he didn't outright say anything or hold a red scarf aloft or anything, during his song 'Home' the big screen behind him played a slideshow of landmarks across the city. Anfield was shown - Goodison wasn't.

Always remember the chorus of boos that rang out around the arena once people caught on to the omission. Bublé just kinda laughed it off - not sure to this day whether he knew exactly what the boos would've been for
It's funny as I saw Simple Minds at the Echo a couple of years ago as well. During some part of it, Jim Kerr mentioned "King K*nny" (I guess he's a big Celtic fan), but then also namechecked "Big Duncan Ferguson". The funniest one I remember though was seeing Roger Waters there. He'd been up in Glasgow a couple of nights before and incited a riot when he thanked some charity associated with Palestine that was set up by a group of Celtic fans. When he was close to finishing he did his usual thank you etc to Liverpool, and then said something along the lines of "a great city for football, and am leaving it at that as am not making the same mistake twice"......then again, he's an Arsenal supporter....

Slade sung walk on at the empire.
It's on YouTube.

Yes there are some absolute nuts who follow him with a messianic zeal and queue for over a week to get to the front of the pit.🤓
A Facebook friend posted regularly about following him to Barcelona etc and apparently you queue up for days to get a stamp on your hand each day which determines who enters first at the front. I was lucky to see him in Edinburgh in the Biden days, no politics just rocking all night long.

My brother is one of them. They are like train spotters. They all gather at venue two days before and a clipboard nazi gives them a number, then they all return every few hours for a roll call, so they don't lose their place. It's nuts. He did this at Sunderland last year. Fair enough he got to the front, as usual, but I pitched up at 4pm on the day and was just as close. They are a pretty joyless bunch.

Yes I’ve been in the pit (not Anfield this time) many times and you can definitely tell who the militant devotees are (and there are many), sizing each other up. Very tiresome but quite amusing to watch.

Loads of Spanish and Italian fans do this. I'm a big fan ( seen him 15+ times). Only bothered to do this once because we were near Torinos ground and we couldn't find many pubs.
He's the greatest live act in the world.

Wasting time? Did you actually watch the concert?
For a 75 year old he plays like a man possessed, a legend who doesn't need to sing Liverpool songs to be popular.

I realised my hatred of the rs outweighs my love of Bruce - so I didn't get a ticket. Mostly in case he did sing that dirge.
I'm the same with the Bunnymen. I usually try to go to see them when they play in Liverpool, but they supported the Stones there a couple of years back and guaranteed there would have been an RS love-in from Mac so I gave it a miss.
