ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

He knows they won't get the replay

However, refs will now be terrified to give anything against Liverpool

The media will do their part and sharpen the knives before every big Liverpool game

"Let's hope the VAR gets it right this time"

It's actually kind of disgusting that so much fuss is being made about this mistake when you consider how many times clubs like Everton have been screwed by VAR with barely a peep from the media

The bias is so blatant, they're not even trying to hide it

Just appalling
De Zerbi has already brought this up in a press conference, that he hopes the refs on Sunday are not unduly influenced by last Saturday's events.
Maybe that's what all PL managers need to do ahead of playing them. Highlight the drama that Klopp has created and suggest that the referees need to be strong in the face of all this external influence

He’s more offside than Lukaku was in the Carabao Cup final when he scored the winner. Sadly that didn’t comply with the ‘unprecedented quadruple’ media agenda at the time so they just drew an invented line from a bit of air he was pointing at three yards in front of himself and called it offside.

VAR is BS for offsides. I've said it for years. Entirely arbitrary when they measure the forward pass into the eventual scorer.

The truth is that both cases can be made here with the Diaz incident: both onside and offside.

IMO that was offside and the linesman on the day got it spot on.

He’s on, the video of the VAR consultation showed he was well behind the line

It's a BS arbitrary decision when to judge the point of contact with the pass that leads to a goal.

As I said above: both cases can be made for that Diaz incident...just as it can for the vast majority of offside\onside decisions.

What the VAR audio underlines was the sheer terror these VAR officials have when they get one 'wrong' against Liverpool. There's no smoking gun with that audio...it's just that they knew they got the politics of that decision all wrong, NOT the actuality of it.

It has restored a little bit of my faith in humanity reading the comments section on the BBC article regarding Klopp’s comments. Even given the ridiculous amount of air time this has been given, and with Kopites in the media peddling the narrative, ALL of the top comments are people ripping Klopp / Liverpool.

Any Kopite that has commented saying it should be a replay is getting absolutely slaughtered, with loads of different people giving examples of much worse decisions from recent times. It’s just good to see that the general football community isn’t falling for this bollox. People are just hating them more than they already do.
Which is exactly how it should be

Well done by him if so

That does seem to be the smartest play right now

Actually I think you are wrong on that these days. I used to think it was arbitrary in regard to when the ball was kicked but I'm sure I watched something before the World Cup that explained that is no longer the case and that the match ball now has a sensor built in. Here's an article...

PS. It is "offside." A singular event.

Can guarantee you the red card Jones got at the weekend wouldn’t get given this weekend. I have seen people debate it both ways but that’s the sort of decision that will go their way now moving forward. Any hesitation at all from the officials and they will be terrified to go against them. Good on De Zerbi for calling it out.

Interesting how quickly VAR came up with their decision when they thought they were giving a goal when you consider how long it takes them to make other decisions.
Exactly this mate - they seemed to rattle through the check and didn’t do it correctly as they thought it was already given as a goal to the RS.

Look how long every other offside check normally takes, including our one v Luton, which was given by the onfield team but took many minutes for the VAR lot to confirm.
