ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

They'll never change mate, cheating the system, cheating in general is in their dna.

Guaranteed they will all be fit for the next pl match.

Some would call it clever of them, marginal gains and all that, but it's blatant cheating.
Personally, I don't know why we're not doing it ourselves. Most of these internationals are frigging friendlies. Ferguson did it for years - it's why Ryan Giggs only made about 50 appearances for Wales in 20 years.

Stupid time to have a break anyway, imo.

Cos were too soft and nice, and we'd probably get points deducted off us by the corrupt fa or something daft - you know it would go pearshaped if we tried it.

Look at niasse getting banned for diving when he didn't, or that piss weak applogy after the city handball farce - no other club would get treated like that but us, so it's a knap we'd get nailed if we cheated players out of international squads.

Walker and James are better than him as well. That’s an uncomfortable fact the media don’t want to admit to. Keeping clean sheets is everything in international football and both are far better defenders than he is and can attack pretty well also.

Then you take into account the attitude all Liverpool players have that they couldn’t care less for their international teams until it’s a big tournament and it’s no wonder Southgate’s got no time for him at all.

The media don’t seem to have made the correlation yet between the one England manager unwilling to base his selections on Media pressure and the relative success of that same manager.
Not sure about them being better mate, they all have there individual strengths...........again that's all about how the manager wants to play.

I'd personally play him and James in the same team, and play Alexander Arnold in Calvin Phillips position. Big red have sort of been playing him as an inverted full back this season, which is sort of the same space that Phillips occupys

Southgate tried that and it was a disaster. TAA doesn’t have any positional awareness. He’s covered at Liverpool by Henderson always covering that flank (and the convenient fact no one can hit a barn door against them even when one on one multiple times)

He’s very very good going forward when given time to get his head up and launch balls into the box. You don’t get that time in tournament football though, and England aren’t particularly good at dominating the ball against the best in the world (see our exits to Croatia and Italy). To win a tournament we’ll have to dig in and defend perfectly for long periods. TAA just isn’t the player for that and Southgate knows it. He’d even lick Trippier ahead of him if it came to it.

I'm hoping that you meant pick not lick.

Surely thier strenghs as full backs should be defending, TAA is not a good defender, so imo, Walker and James are better. I dont see enough of him tbh to see if he would play instead of Phillips.
