ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The only thing they care about, and therefore likely to ruffle them is premier league results. Klopp effectively threw the cup even admitting that he didn’t think his lineup could win. I don’t think that loss or any of City’s cup wins will bother them, the same way they glossed over the CL losses and going out of the league cup. The one that stung was City’s prem win. If Brighton can just perform like an ok premier league side at home it could be enough to get a draw against them. If that happened they’d be in full on January crisis mode. If it’s another 4-0 walkover with Salah getting pens for dives, offsides not being given, Brighton missing sitters from a yard, every deflection flying past the keeper, then they’ll believe that nothing has changed and the cup sacrifice was worth it. Hughton needs to have Brighton organised this weekend as the points are there for the taking if they perform effectively.
I don’t agree entirely, I mean put yourself in a RS players shoes. Mentally that 9-0 will have got to them. I’m not saying hugely, but it will have been noted. They’re now fighting to keep their heads above water, Citeh just added another few drops to the ocean.

Thing is it's not just the players but more then fans, they have seen what Klopp should of done, bringing extra pressure is never a good idea

I wonder why he threw the big guns on at the end of the wolves game if that's true.

He couldn’t not. He wanted to scrape his way out of it to avoid the media backlash but ultimately bringing them on for the last 20 mins in a game they’d been trailing in for almost the entirety was nothing more than a PR exercise.

He's playing to the Old Trafford gallery very well. United fans do not expect to be mentioned in the same breath as the rs, as they should be an irrelevance. It took 30 years or so of Ferguson to get to that point were the rs know it as well - which is why it winds them up so much.

Does Silva have 30 years to give us to achieve the same? It'd probably take 40 to knock United off the perch now, but you have to start somewhere...

Looking at the adverts behind him and the stuff on sky sports news I’m guessing it’s from when he was at Cardiff but probably still more than aware of his loyalty and responsibility to play his role as an ex united player .

It would have been a pretty terrible PR exercise if his key players had got injured after he brought them on in a game he didn't even want them to do well in wouldn't it?

More likely is he thought the team he was putting out would be good enough to win but tried to save face by saying he didn't because, well, they didn't.

Not the first time he has done this, it wasn't even the team selection, you could tell by the energy levels that the players were told not to try too hard.

He did it to get over a week's rest for a warm weather training camp.

"Fighting to keep their heads above water" is now a valid description for "4 points clear at the top of the league"

Ok then...
