ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

For Christ sake, the phrase "title race" for the season is a nonsense. On equal numbers of games played, I think Liverpool were ahead in Feb(?), then City overtook them, and stayed in front right up until the season ended yesterday.

Except that because Sky arrange the matches, they set it up that City virtually always had to play catch up with a game in hand. In reality there was no "race", more like a chase, with the rs repeatedly failing to catch City (or conversely, City failing to drop points). The constant swapping of City and the rs at the top of the league was just a show. The rs have been behind City - admittedly by a small margin - for months.

But I guess that doesn't fit the narrative, or sell papers/Sky subscriptions.

I'll be honest... their fitness levels and lack of injuries is on another level.

I can't recall a side keeping so many key players fit so long. Yes TAA and Gomes were misses but the spine of their side and attacking trio were fit all the way through.

Throw in ridiculous decisions, the incoming VAR and likelihood that they won't get the same luck with injuries and such.

Surely the likes of VVD and Salah will be targeted by one of the big boys.
Fitness level? If they were in athletics or cycling they would be accused of being juiced up.

Mate, they are improving every year he’s there. We need him gone, they are NOT going to sack him. We need another club to come in and take him because we will not survive his reign without them winning one of the top prizes in the next few years. Their fans would riot if they sacked him, he plays to them absolutely perfectly and they love it.

Klopp just gets them laaa.

This is true (at present) but watch them turn on him as soon as a bad run of results comes along.

Which of course was the subject of innuendo and the underlying narrative when Leicester dared to win the EPL a fe2 years who.

The same fingers would be pointing and the tongues would be wagging but for the fact the media is a Kopite snakepit.

Of all the kopite bellends in the media, I think this guy might be the worst. Have it David, you horrid gobshite

No, the Telegraph Sport are the worst. Today's Man City match report mentions Liverpool almost as much as City. eg: ...as City captain Vincent Kompany swigged champagne while the rest of us may raise a glass to their achievement and that of a brilliant Liverpool to run them so incredibly close. For 21 minutes of Sunday afternoon, if the results had stood as they were, then Liverpool would have won their first title for 29 years.- continues in same vein. 'Liverpool' mentioned SEVEN times in a City v Brighton match report.

Has Jft97points# not been said yet?

Seen justice for the 97 a few times online but it’s a bit borderline for me that one.

99.% of Liverpool fans have absolutely zero connection to hillsborough other than trying to use it to be accepted by their other fans or use it as a tool against opposition fans, so it’s a no for me on this one
