Talk of a repatriation of an infected Ebola patient at work
Lot of my colleagues saying they don't want to gown up after cases in Soain and USA
Many talking of going on the sick
Strange times

I think a "watcher" for the de-gowning would be very beneficial, just like in training. I think the protocol calls for a buddy system in removal of protective gear, but the added eyes that aren't hot, tired, scared, ready to get all this crap off, would go a long way to preventing breaches in protocol. I'm sure other breaches have occurred, but those folks have gotten lucky...so far.

There is certainly a case to be made to pay Big Pharma to develop drugs and monoclonal agents for these viral haemorrhaging fevers. Just in case!
Don't rely on these diseases not breaking out, work on cures as soon as they arise!

Sadly no real money it so it was always going to stay on the back burner -- until maybe now that's it's made it out of Africa. Just look at malaria.

I wonder how many anti-vaccine people would line up for an Ebola vaccine?

Imagine what the NIH could do if it were properly funded! We have an army shooting $100,000 missiles from remote controlled airplanes at single non-state terrorists driving old toyota pickups, but NIH grant awards are being restricted and shortened because there is no money.

I suppose there is upside if you're already in viral research.

CDC warn 1.4 million infected by January!! The possibility of West Africa going into economic meltdown must be addressed now! World banks must be terrified!

Do you know what RAFUH I wouldnt take the vaccine, the 1st of which probably about 6 months away, unless I lived in Guinea, SL or Liberia of course. And I'm vaccinated up to the gills :)

As am I and I wouldn't get it either.

But that's just it. All these folks that won't give their kids MMR or people that won't get a flu vaccine would probably be fighting to get an Ebola vaccine.

Yeah good point, some people I work with refuse to have their kids vaccinated, lunacy!
