An online campaign is calling for the dog of a Spanish nurse with Ebola not to be put down. The woman, reported to be Teresa Romero Ramos, is the first person known to have contracted the virus outside Africa in the current outbreak.

Spanish authorities say her pet, called Excalibur, will be killed because "available scientific information" can't rule out it spreading the virus. But campaigners say there's not enough evidence to support killing the animal.

Spain though? They haven't got a clue how she got it!

Simple human error as was easily predicted

And a Spanish nurse being treated for ebola in a Madrid hospital saysshe touched her face with a tainted protective glove after helping treat a man dying from the virus.

Thomas Eric Duncan - the first person to be diagnosed with ebola on US soil - succumbs to the "insidious" virus in hospital.

Kill the dog, it's leavings could render Madrid pavements into virtual funeral homes!

The virus would have likely gained access via eyes, nose and/or mouth not through the skin on her face.

It's easy to do...you walk out of the room and are taking off all this garb, your nose itches....
And my nose itches all the time !
If I put on the personal protective gear I think I'd leave it on for 3 weeks!

Now that nurses husband wants people to save their dog and hippies are all over this ffs...just watch...armageddon starts cause of that dog! Ebola mutates innit and gets wings. We all die...
