We were given a full season of wonderful, imaginative, attacking sexy football for 10 months. Going to teams like Arsenal and Utd and playing them off their own park. Record number of Premier league points, scoring goals for fun, solid at the back. Qualified for Europe and playing like we did, we all dreamt of europes elite coming to Goodison and being sent a message. Individually its the best Everton side since the 80's and i honestly thought we would kick on and take it to the next level. Players signing new contracts, breaking the transfer record to bring in a top forward. It was such a good summer that us lads on here were arguing about just how good we really were.

Quite how we have gone from that to what i've seen this season is simply beyond me.

Our points total last season would of given us Champions League any other season. We were unlucky with that. We all were saying it and pointing it out. Well this season we have the lowest number of points at this stage of the season than any of us can remember and that includes some of your grandads btw. Yes no team is relegated after 29 games but if it wasn't for the likes of Leicester, QPR and the like who are somehow consistently worse than us, we could very well end up staying in the premier league with only 35/36 points. Any other year that would see us down.

In our (bobby's?) defence. They WERE lucky with rebounds. We WERE unlucky with rebounds and we WERE unlucky with the penalty decisions. And the pitch really DIDNT help.

Easy to say in hindsight but we now know we should of played for a nil nil and maybe a goal on the break rather than Martinez attack and we will score more attitude.gutted

Think we need to look at our stock in the summer. Its not knee jerk but we need defenders who can defend first and foremost. If we could get decent money for coleman then let him go and get a more intelligent defender. We have Stones and maybe Jags for another season. Our midfield needs to be closer to the opposition rather than standing off. We got thrashed because opposition players with intelligence will destroy our brainless players. I am embarrassed by that and it shows you where we are as a team.....drifting. English football is not that good. Martinezs philosophy is correct but we need technical players and fast thinking players not dogs of war types. I would keep Barkley, Lukaku, Stones, Garbutt, Besic, McCarthy and look to replace the others. Even keep Robles.
