2025/26 Dwight McNeil

He has created two goals this season with a disguised shot around the defender. Almost like shots can create chances and all that. Wish we had more players that would try something clever.

Edit: why is everyone so butthurt? Holy moly. It was a good shot on target that yet again caught the keeper off guard. It's not like you need to sing his praises to the heavens. Just acknowledge a good deed and move on with your lives.

I don't know why we're so gun shy. We have numerous players who can smack it from outside the box. Deflections and rebounds are always possibilities. I've been critical of McNeil but he's not scared to have a go.

It's like he is the only one that realizes curling around a defender unsights the keeper. More of our guys should try it and I have no idea why it isn't more utilized.

Other than the shot that led to the goal thought he was his usual poor self, weak pressing and challenges in the lead up to their goal and got caught out constantly in the second half when they were getting in behind on our right at will

100% this did nothing, lost the ball easily and the last 10 minutes he was on the pitch he just left o'Brien on his own against two men.

Absolute garbage

Will get pelters as always, and he wasn’t great with the ball, or anything, but did a job of sorts. Pretty disciplined, was mostly positioned where he needed to be.

Very very strange choice to play him though.

Mixed game, goal doesn't happen without him.

Unfortunately still not strong enough on the ball when we needed to hold onto it and got tired early on.

Or Nick Pope.

McNeil was exactly what he’s been all season again today but we won so people will pretend he played well when he was dispossessed 6 times, played the ball out of play twice, nearly hit Quayside with his first shot from 20 yards out, gave the ball away under no pressure twice and was consistently played around by Newcastle and failed to track runners again. His far post corner routine was easily defended unlike Garner who got an assist with his first corner.

He did pluck the ball out of the air very well on one occasion and will no doubt get an assist on some nerd’s spreadsheet somewhere with one of the tamest shots you’ll ever see, so well in Dwight.
