2025/26 Dwight McNeil

He was called back because of injuries and AFCON, we don't need to pretend otherwise. As soon as KDH is even 60% fit Armstrong will be back on the bench, hence the talk for him going back to Preston to actually play. It's how Moyes works.

You've not seen a single post writing him off? A huge chunk of the thousand or so posts in his thread are either literally writing him off or alluding to him being garbage..
He’s talking about Dibling, like he does in nearly all his posts. He absolutely cannot help himself, even when he’s discussing other players.

It’s quite amusing how he’s saying “Imagine using PL games to play underperforming footballers hoping they will eventually improve” while right in front of his eyes McNeil is allowed to be beyond dreadful for game after game after game after game (including a mesmerisingly shocking performance away at Bradford). Good for Dwight he finally gave us a 7/10 after weeks of being anonymous.

7/10 is gratuitous in my opinion - every pass was backwards, every attack had to stop as he has to move the ball to the left as he can't even play a short pass with his right.

Loved it in one of the more egregious instances, when we broke forward, had numbers, McNeil received the ball and without even trying to turn or look around played it back to Patterson, with no one near him - really helped Villa get back and organise their back 4.

….i’m not sure I’ve seen a single post ‘writing him off’.

Points are precious, a Manager isn’t going to include players just in the hope they improve. Armstrong was recalled, came on as a substitute and has started every game since because he demonstrated how effective he is, that’s how it works.

Imagine using PL games to play underperforming footballers hoping they will eventually improve. Maybe give Reece Welch and Eli Campbell 10 games at CB, let’s give them a go
Take the blinkers off Eggsy, your chatting wham. Harrison will get dropped as soon as davey has his other options available, even though he doesn’t deserve to.
Patterson will likely get dropped as soon as Keane is available again, even though we know he’s done ok and we’ve secured more points with Job at cb than at rb.

tbh I’d sooner see Welch or Campbell selected at cb than Micheal Keane, I’ve said this for years - I know what I’m getting from the likes of Keane and McNeil (clue - it’s not good enough, not even close!), but I’ve not seen enough of the younger lads to say they would be worse if given games, and I don’t trust managers like Dyche or Moyes telling me so, as they have proven themselves to be blind sided, like many of our fans.

Most Evertonians in general write off young players insanely quickly, who then leave and do very well at other clubs.

It was for making Martinez unsure if he could pick up his powderpuff back pass which directly led to the winning goal. Buendia and Maatsen had him on toast whenever they wanted as well.

Ah, the long game

There's not a lot of players that don't have him on toast at this point to be fair. Pitiful to watch a professional footballer be this slow and onefooted. Thanks for the 3 blammos Dwight, but we need more from 120 or whatever games.

A back pass shot at Martinez an 11 year old could of hit harder, a tackle on his 18 yard box and then passed it 15 yards.

Tell ye what if that's how low the bar is for making an effective contribution you could get any fella off Buckley hill to provide that.

Played with fellas who believe if you score or assist you've had a MOTM performance, forgetting the 40 misplaced passes they've done through the game. Thats what I feel it'd be like to play with Mcneil and i'll lump in doucoure with that type of stats. No surprise its the dinosaur managers and fans who appreciate that stuff.
