2025/26 Dwight McNeil

Hes started 6 games in all comps. Been subbed by half time in 2 of them (Brentford and Palace). Subbed just after half time in 1 (Wolves cup). Had a shocker in the FA Cup.

The only 2 he played 90mins was a 0.0 away to Burnley and the 2.0 win away at Forest...which McNeil got an assist. So McNeil stayed in.

Aznou for example played 34mins in the FA cup out of position and won a penalty and did more than Dibbers has done in those 320mins.

Too many excuses for a lad who is our 3rd most expensive ever signing.
No there is not. He needs games and time. Loads of talent and will be a very good player. He needs treating like Barry but that can't happen due to a very good 1st choice on the right. His time will come.

Unfortunately we are yet to see "loads of talent" his debut was set up nicely,no pressure game at home v lower league opposition, all we saw was control the ball and a short pass sideways or backwards. He's contributed in two away games by working hard to block runs and help out in defence. A lot of money to pay for a player who should be making a difference in the final third.

Dwight the cockroach. Gets in over our £35 million wonderkid, becomes first choice pick until end of the season, despite being absolutely rubbish.

….but he’s a more effective option than Dibling. I don’t get why posters blame McNeil and Moyes for that very obvious scenario even if we’d all prefer it if Dibling turns the situation around.

McNeil isn’t ’rubbish’, he’s been centrally involved in all 3 goals that have produced 2 terrific away wins. If Dibling could reach that level we’d be delighted.

Also think he's a player who gets better playing consistently, hopefully he can get back to his form pre injury last season

Has his limitations but he can certainly score goals and assist

Giving him a run of games would help that.

Also players 'involved' in goals nowadays means making a 5 yard pass to the player who gave the assist is hardly earth shattering.
He is proper garbage and always has been.

Pace is poor
Set pieces are poor
Ability is poor
Passing is poor
Decision making is poor
Work rate is good

Well he can’t really can he he averages about 3/4 goals a season on a full season and a few assists. His assists got padded out due to taking every set piece. He’s a poor player and that’s why we were fighting relegation when we had him and tbe likes of Jack Harrison, doucoure etc.
He has no future so I’d rather see Dibling be given more minutes, especially as he’s more right sided than McNeil

….i always read, ‘give him a run of games’, such a nonsense statement as fans will soon complain if he continues to disappoint and we lose points. Two of the games he’s started he failed to get past half-time.

The only way he gets more game time is by showing he deserves it, especially when you have more effective options available.

I dont rate Barry, but dont you think he is reaping the benefits of getting a run in the team now? Rather than being in and out of the team every week.

You have everything to gain by playing Dibling or at least starting him, if hes crap drag him off.
Playing McNeil for me is pointless but its what safe Davey will do.

Same could be said about Dibbers, but far too many, including the manager, have already written him off.

All players generally get better by playing more.

….i’m not sure I’ve seen a single post ‘writing him off’.

Points are precious, a Manager isn’t going to include players just in the hope they improve. Armstrong was recalled, came on as a substitute and has started every game since because he demonstrated how effective he is, that’s how it works.

Imagine using PL games to play underperforming footballers hoping they will eventually improve. Maybe give Reece Welch and Eli Campbell 10 games at CB, let’s give them a go

Same vibes.

Also those are great highlights, but are we pretending he does this every game? For every highlight he has, there are at least 10 poor plays and decisions and innumerable backwards passes when there's better on.

So I'd say, contrary to the video, the PL is very much ready for him.

He hasn’t got more effective options available. McNeil is getting picked because he’s not 19 and has the good old prem Experience.
Nothing to do with talent. McNeil will be more of a hindrance than a help. If Moyes is not going to play
Dibling, then we need to go in
The market and get another winger, I can’t watch McNeil for 18
Games

He was called back because of injuries and AFCON, we don't need to pretend otherwise. As soon as KDH is even 60% fit Armstrong will be back on the bench, hence the talk for him going back to Preston to actually play. It's how Moyes works.

You've not seen a single post writing him off? A huge chunk of the thousand or so posts in his thread are either literally writing him off or alluding to him being garbage..
