Can somebody shop the Refs head with Kenwrongs and give Dunc a speech bubble saying "I dont care about a Summer Warchest, gimme the money NOW".

He was manager of Barcelona B who played in the second tier in Spain.

Mourinho had been assisatant manager for 8 years at some of the best clubs in Europe. That's some preparation.

clutching straws there fella

dave he said its his "ambition to manage everton" im not expecting him to get it tomorrow mate.

so lets see how he does before we say he HAS to leave to get better and closer to his dream please.

I think if Ferguson gets close to Martinez and gets inside his head and inner circle, then it could be a smooth transition if Martinez goes eventually (hopefully not for years down line).

I think it is inevitable that Duncan Ferguson will be the manager of Everton one day. He's doing all of his coaching badges and has been excelling. He is a beloved icon at this football club.

In terms of coming from nowhere, let's not forget - Mourinho was just a club translator at first under Bobby Robson at Sporting Lisbon, and look what Mourinho ended up being.

I think how he does first though means seeing him go and get experience as a boss. That's not unreasonable I dont think. No one's saying he shouldn't be boss, but it has to be on more of a basis than that he scored a few goals for us and battered a couple of burglars!

agreed and it defo has to be on merit.

*bookmarks for this time next sesaon to reassess

...never knew that. I thought his command of English was very good and now I know why.

I don't know if anyone saw it, but there was a great interview with Ferguson in the Express back in December:

Some really interesting stuff. I didn't realise he's now tee-total, and hasn't touched a drop of alcohol in 5 years.

His relationship with Martinez and what is footballing philosophy is doesn't match what you might think. A really good read that article.

One of the other misconceptions about Ferguson, the muscular target man who regularly left Liverpool and Manchester United battered and bruised, arises from the style of football he might encourage Everton’s youngsters to adopt.

“It is total football,” he said. “That is what Kevin Sheedy and I do at the academy. We introduced a playing style, playing from the back and through the thirds, playing through midfield and through the striker. That is religious. On the target-man tag, yes, I was proud of that and proud of the way I played. But I can’t remember me hitting a 90-yard pass to my head. I didn’t pass the ball to myself, did I?

“If you think about it, I was the one doing the short passes, the lay-offs.” His delight at being back in the fold at Everton for the past two years is matched by the club’s renaissance.

“The boss takes a great interest in the academy and has embraced everything about Everton. He wants the first team to be flexible in how they play, and Romelu Lukaku has been a great signing. He gives you a Plan B. We want to play football and we are going to do that, but if an opponent is pressing you then we have that threat in Lukaku who we can play it up to.”

It is interesting to consider just how Ferguson the coach might deal with a youngster who has rough edges in his own make-up a la Ferguson the teenager.

“I have been through quite a lot, so the kids can definitely relate to me,” said Ferguson, who has not touched a drop of alcohol for five years.

“When you are young, you don’t really listen. And part of a coach’s job is to get through to the youngsters in a way that they understand what they have in front of them, about the choices they should make in their lifestyle, things like that. I am from the same side of the street as the youngsters and they can understand the way I try to speak to them.

Summing him up like that is very harsh indeed, I see your point but . .. . .still

Was over there 2004, 17 year old. I'll be over for the April one. Ah to be sure to be sure.

Are you after my lucky charms?

Big Dunk da funk

Anyone else think this could be to do with traore? If he used his physical attributes half as well as Duncan did then he could be one hell of a player!
