Drunken Blues

On matchdays I tend to...

  • Stay sober

  • Have just the one

  • Typically have a few beers

  • Get blotto

  • Have alcohol infused cheese on toast

Alcohol; no ‘safe’ amount.

Joking aside, alcohol causes cancer.

If you think people would be/are shocked at how much you drink, pause for a minute and think about whether there’s a problem.

Take care everyone ;)

you see the state of some blues in the concourses at half time at the aways, who can barely stand up!
and its not just alcohol being consumed, people are snorting in open view!
i suppose its just the football culture in this country,
same thing with the binge drinking up and down the country on a saturday night.
Remember one away at Chelsea when we were patted down going in. Got inside and there was one lad in the salmon Puma away kit - tats on every visible bit of skin, and bladdered to the extent that I would never have thought possible. Simply couldn’t speak but remained upright while he was trying. I just remember thinking three things - how did he get past the Gestapo styled security in that state, why’s he wearing that shirt, and how can one man be so drunk but still be standing. To this day, he holds an affectionate place in my thoughts, the massive tatted up, boozed up, true blue (salmon pink) loon.

When a lot younger, I would be in The Salutation on Walton Road at 12-00noon.

Steady drinking until 2-45pm, then a pint at half-time.

Straight to the boozer after the match, then around 8-00pm, a taxi into town, and home around 3-00am.

Now it's a cup of tea and a bacon sarnie before the game and straight home afterwards,

If I'm not driving I'll have no more than four pints in the Brick before the game. Then on return trip some ready made brandy and coke finishing with a few in my local before falling in over the doorstep.

I’ll have a swift in the brick, force myself to drink whatever warm piss is being served in the main stand at HT to numb the footy I’ve just watched. Maybe one or two after and slob my way home alone hating Everton.

This season I’ve been drinking a lot less. I like a beer if I’m in a good mood, and watching the blues this season has given me, well, the blues!
Don’t feel like drinking and the wife will kill me if I go on the type of hard stuff that this season warrants.
