Dont need a striker....

Those two Blackburn goals were crackers, though. Not sure how Timmay Howard could have saved those. But, really, wouldn't we all like to see him make a spectacular save now and then? Besides a PK save, I haven't seen him make a spectacular, out-of-nowhere save in a while.

But those goals bring me to this point -- Everton sorely miss Fellaini. Since he's been injured, these late goals, almost all originating or scoring from midfield or just inside it, have been coming like Jenna Jameson in a one-hour flick.

His calm and especially his defensive work in the middle of the field are musts for this team.
Here's hoping he is not sold to Real Madrid.

If he is, Everton needs to invest in a REAL central defensive midfielder. Neville needs to be regulated to the bench.

Someone like Michael Bradley would be great. Tireless worker. Never stops running. His sole purpose on the field is to destroy attacks and make opposing attackers uncomfortable on the ball.
He won't provide as much goals or magic on the ball as Fellaini but he'll make a huge difference defensively in the middle and defensive third of the field.

He will also allow Arteta to be more free to roam, push and attack.

I agree. Everton doesn't need another striker, maybe a new left-sided midfielder (Bily has disappointed the last three weeks, minus a goal, maybe buy Donovan fot the right again and Peanuts on the left?), and just find a good back four with the seven that the Blues do have (Baines -- Senderos/Yobo -- Heitinga/Distin -- Jagielka???) but a midfield destroyer is a must.

I'd say we do need a striker , like - Beckford , aside - .
Source told me last week that Yak's attitude had changed . He wants to stay , I heard , so , if he's last year's Yak , I'm all day with that .

Anyway , that's what I think .

Love your tag , Dominghosa .

Where's the Church on your Avatar - ' Cause I know it's NOT St. George's - St. Domingo - Church , Everton , as I'm looking at it as I type , ???

Welcome .

Don't know about not needing a striker, can't believe saha stayed on today, he seemed off the pace from the start and was never spearheading the attack when we got down the wings, he was in fact in midfield. He didn't seem fit at all.

lovely kissable lips and sexy accent though

St. Domingo, according to the liverpoolmuseums.org.uk archives.

"St Domingo Methodist Chapel (1870), described by Pevsner as "ornate, fanciful assymetrical", stood on the corner of Breckfield Road. It was the football group from this church who later became Everton FC.

Domingo is my surname. Yes, it's fate.

We have been conceiding a lot of goals recently, I think we do need a good defensive midfielder, in the carsley mold, maybe Michael Bradley, though I know Moyes has looked at him before and it didnt go anywhere.

Regarding the defence, I think we have just made too many changes throughout the season, to get the consistancy we need to keep the same 4 players for 10 or so games.

I think the issue of getting another striker is awkward, we tend to play with just one striker, so ideally you need someone who has it all; pace, power, skillfull, target man, clinical goal scorer............and those guys cost about £30M

Incase anyone hasn't been on GOT for awhile.

Confirmed signings from LCAB and "SOURCE".

MUCHA
J Silva
J Beckford (confirmed from my source @Leeds and LCAB and Source).

And you're right.

But LCAB's got it from source if we sell one or two on the fringe, then we'll be looking to hook a "big fish" and I think that'll be a winger/playmaker than a striker. personally.

2nd one was very stoppable....Dustbin should never allowed a player of the callibre of Jason Roberts to turn and shoot. And why cant Howard save long range efforts?

Just curious, did you watch slow motion replays of the goals or just live/full speed? I ask b/c initially I was very disappointed as well, but when I saw from a slowed down front-angle, both goals were scorchers, placed perfectly, & the ball had a LOT of movement. Plus he didn't appear to have a delayed reaction, actually seemed fairly quick. Positioning seemed ok.

Either way, great win. Helluva 2nd half to watch.

Distins shape was all wrong and got turned inside far too easy... You just dint do that.

As for howard... Watching it back he's on the edge of the 6 yard box on both goals. If he's a yard or 2 back he saves that second goal as it dips and hits the ground.

Apart form being a mile of his goal line for both (again). No comment!

They must have different definitions of a 'Mile' in your universe, cos in ours it isn't equivalent to 6-yards.

1st was ustoppable. The 2nd.....isnt he too far off his line? Its been noted before that his positioning is a bit poor from distance. But Dustbin should've never allowed Roberts to turn him. Not one bit. Yobo would've booted him. Senderos would stuck close. Heitinga wouldve killed him and got away with it.

Its been noted? Well, a bunch of know-nothings on here have said it. Don't think anyone of any consequence has ever said anything to that effect.

Distin is a meter or so out of position, although I think in this case its unlikely it would have made any difference. As far as Howards postioning, he's backpedaling a bit as he reaches the 6 yard line on the second goal, caught out by roberts being allowed to turn. However the 6-yard line is where pretty much every keeper stands when play is that far away from the goal. So basically its a few of you on here, vs every keeper. Ever. You lose.

Its mathematics really... A trade off between the reaction time gained by staying on the line and the spaced saved by coming off it and cutting off the angle. I have no idea what is better but my guess is there have been studies done on the issue by the clubs.

Your right mate, the defence has been sensational all season!

Second goal was down to poor defending. Distin and Jagielka should never have allowed Roberts that space to come between them.

There's one more thing which has to be considered - it will be more and more difficult to expect us being as solid defensively as in the past (especially when we were playing Neville and Carsley as DM), every season we are opening our attacking game a little bit, team is more lightweight, with a little less workrate. We are also playing higher as defensive unit, not really having players (including keeper) for style like this - but it had to be done, because our level of possession game rapidly improved (yesterday vs Blackburn we had 63%). I don't think it's a matter of new players, it's more of a practice/match experience thing, and constant line-up changes didn't help in this aspect for sure.

Maybe Im being harsh. But Howard gets done from distance more times than not....cant say Ive ever seen him make a decent save from a high distance shot. So unless everything that gets hit at him from a long range is 9 out 10 pearly gold belters of shots then fair enough....but it seems to be every long ranger on target that gets him.
