The Diet Coke thing? Well the fact that he's massively over caffeinated probably isn't great... and that large quantities of artificial sweeteners have links to all sorts of negative health effects. But yeah, overall that was one throwaway line in a story... I'm far more concerned over all sorts of reports that have come out about him having woeful short term memory and attention span, and that the problem is getting worse.Ok. The longer the Russian collusion story goes on the more pressure generates to want to know where such narrative came from. The fruits of which are starting to bear now. Clinton Foundation being subject to investigation now along with Fusion GPS bank records being requested. The next few months will be interesting.
It's also laughable America is taking the moral high ground regarding Russian interference with the election. I mean the US has been doing this itself for decades. The collusion story is continually put forth because mainstream media believes it's the only way to explain Trump's win.
I mean journalism has sunk to such low levels since Trump was elected. I mean who really cares if he drinks eleven diet cokes, doesn't like people touching his toothbrush, how many scoops of ice cream etc.
It's as if they still can't believe he is actually POTUS they have to continually take potshots at him. Sure he makes it easy with his Twitter, but come on. The media absolutely love it when he tweets. I think he partly tweets some outlandish stuff because he knows they will bite. And they do.
Where are journalists covering the improvement in the economy, generating a massive amount of jobs, the tax bill, ISIS losing massive amounts of ground, unemployment rates etc. They can't even bring themselves to cover him in any positive light.
As for the media covering the economy? It's covered every single day. Yes, jobs have been generated - less per month than during Obama's last year, but still yes, at this point he hasn't tanked the economy. In fairness he hadn't passed anything major until the last few weeks (almost a full year after his election) so tanking the economy would have been tough.
Which brings us to the tax bill... To say this wasn't covered at length is simply absurd. It's been substantially covered - as is appropriate for a bill with that sort of impact.
The fact that it has been covered so thoroughly is why it's the least popular piece of major legislation passed in several decades. It's why we know that ~61.8% of the benefits from the bill will go to the top 1% of wage earners (40% going to the top 0.1%). It's why we know that while 90% of families will get a tax cut, those cuts are temporary (lasting only a couple of years) after which individuals taxes will rise, while the massive corporate cuts are permanent. It's why we know that the bill will increase the national debt by $1.3 trillion.
It's why we know, straight from the horses' mouths that republicans passed this bill because their donors insisted on it. It's why we know that they will use the additional national debt as a reason to attempt to cut Medicare, Medicaid etc in the months to come, thereby paying facilitating one of the biggest transfers of wealth from poor to rich in American history. It's why we know that the bill will result in 13 million fewer people having health insurance. It's why we know that the loss in insurance will lead to ~15k more deaths per year.
But yeah, America is no worse off than before he was President.
