Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

But why does the guy that left office 18 years ago even matter? Clinton was inpart impeached for it...and disgraced.

He wasn't impeached (they tried to but couldn't get the votes) and he wasn't disgraced, that is why he was a prominent part of his wife's 2008 and 2016 teams and has made hundreds of millions since leaving office.

The point is that here is apparently someone who has been as bad as Trump, for as long as Trump, and yet the media and prominent leaders have repeatedly told us over the past twenty years that the allegations about him are all lies / smears / misunderstandings opolitically motivated. How on earth are the attacks on Trump ever going to be effective when they have covered up that much abuse?

Also, apparently the meetings Kushner had with foreign power-brokers included one with a certain T. Blair:

Tony Blair has dismissed as a “complete invention” a claim that he warned Donald Trump’s advisers UK intelligence may have spied on him during the presidential election campaign.

In his already bestselling new book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, author Michael Wolff says the the former prime minister had a secret meeting with Trump’s son-in-law and senior aide Jared Kushner.

Wolff wrote that Blair suggested there was a possibility “that the British had had the Trump campaign staff under surveillance, monitoring its telephone calls and other communications and possibly even Trump himself”.

Wolff’s book also repeated speculation that Blair had been angling to be Trump’s Middle East envoy.

Blair suggested Wolff had made up both claims.

Interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme he said: “This story is a complete fabrication, literally from beginning to end. I’ve never had such conversation in the White House, outside of the White House, with Jared Kushner, with anybody else.”

... but of course, with Tony being Tony:

Blair, a former Middle East peace envoy for the quartet of United Nations, the United States, the European Union, and Russia, admitted that he had met Kushner, but not to discuss surveillance on Trump or to lobby for a role.

He said: “Of course I’ve met him and we discussed the Middle East peace process. I wasn’t angling for some job. I did the quartet role. I’m still very active on the Middle East peace process, but I’ve got absolutely no desire for an official position. I never sought one, it was never offered, don’t want one.”

He was impeached. Congress voted to impeach on two counts. The senate aquitted Clinton by failing to reach the 2/3 required to remove from office.

So yes Clinton remains one of two American preseidents in history to be impeached. Pretty disgraceful. Not only that he was disbarred. But hey ho I guess a lawyer being disbarred is in no way a disgrace.

Its not a disgrace if you make far more money after your disbarring than you did before.

I don't get this. If we are to believe what is in this book, Clinton is a womanizer where as Trump is a womanizing sociopath.

Read that page again - "Even among world-class womanizers and harrassers, they seemed exceptionally free of doubt or hesitation". The only difference identified is that Clinton hid his behaviour.

I guess that's a nub of it - if we are to believe what is in the book. I'd be a bit wary of something so obviously pandering to everyone's prejudices of how bad Trump is. I mean if anyone is deserving of a hatchet job on their professional life then it's probably Trump, but it will backfire if it's just the fantasy projections of someone eavesdropping at a distance in the West Wing. That Tony Blair piece quoted upthread, for example, sounds like obvious bollox and just gives Blair the opportunity to flay it into the weeds.

One lesson is to not to play desperately if your position is worse but still reasonable. Lashing out wildly in an inferior position usually only hastens defeat. Meanwhile, solid, stubborn defense can demoralize the attacker, make him lose confidence. When that happens, the tables can turn. Keep fighting, stay steady, keep morale high — and public protests are good for all of these things.
