An interesting article on why the Dems need a better strategy in future elections. From the article...
“The Democratic Party—they always reach out to the Black community when they need the Black vote.” But the party doesn’t maintain contact after elections, failing to show people if and how their vote “moved the needle” on progress, she said.

This is going to cost me a fortune, this thing, believe me. Believe -- This is not good for me. Me, it's not so -- I have some very wealthy friends. Not so happy with me, but that's OK. You know, I keep hearing Schumer: 'This is for the wealthy.' Well, if it is, my friends don't know about it." - Missouri 11/29/2017
My worry with all this is the acceptance of the constant lying , it’s just become the norm. Politicians used to have to resign over lying that’s why I was relieved to see Damian green go yesterday , you lie you pay the price . A world where politicians lie with impunity is a very very dangerous one.
you're absolutely right, he's inciting hatred on the basis of a complete fabrication for his and his parties own ends, it's disgustingMy worry with all this is the acceptance of the constant lying , it’s just become the norm. plausible deniability has long been a mantra politicians have lived by for too long, as you say the lie isn't important to them, it only maters if they can deny deception without be proven otherwiseGreen didn't go because he lied; he went because he was caught lying, there were a whole load of other questions that remain publicly unanswered (over Maltby and the whole "Ashley Madison" thing) and had put the PM at risk. Other politicians - Hunt, Davis, Boris especially and even May herself on occasion etc - tell what are at best deeply misleading statements all the time, with potentially severe consequences for this country, and escape any censure whatsoever.
Nor is it just a phenomenon of the right either; Clinton and her staff told some absolute whoppers during the election campaign (like when she collapsed when leaving that 9/11 memorial, for instance) and a record of Blair's mendacity down the years would fill several volumes.
That’s sort of a moot point really though mate ,to extrapolate that nobody ever gets punished for murder only for getting caught for murdering somebody . Green resigned for lying , getting caught lying if you prefer , my point still stands that it was refreshing to see even if it took a while.Green didn't go because he lied; he went because he was caught lying

Do find this an interesting move by Republicans, especially as their control in the House rests on quite a few districts in high tax states like NY, New Jersey and California. The “self made professional” traditionally used to be a demographic that they tried to cater to, not least because they often make political contributions. As a CPA, as part of my continuing education I"m required to do a certain amount of courses over a 2 year period. At the one I went to last month, this article is essentially what they told us - the tax bill was going to hurt the upper middle class more than anyone else, particularly in states with high income tax, like Illinois, Jersey, New York, etc. The media does kind of make it like poor people are worse off in the bill or somehow paying more taxes, but this isn't the case. It's that those rich enough to live a certain lifestyle would get screwed, and the biggest beneficiaries were twofold - the Super Rich, who are actually the truly wealthy people, not the grinding professional types, and corporations.
I know, I know. On the one hand why feel sorry for someone making $150,000 year? Well that amount of money isn't that much in New York or New Jersey, and sure they don't need to buy a $1 million apartment and can move to Nebraska to sell insurance. But everything is relative. The tax bill is certainly going to hurt "poor" rich people much more than any other demographic
