And here's their answer to that:

...when you’re conservative woke, you’re ready to deploy the most powerful non-bullet firing weapon in your liberty-loving arsenal – your devastating capability not to give a damn what the liberals and their Conservative, Inc., cruise-shilling Benedict Arnold buddies say.

When you don’t care anymore, they got nothing.

What are these whiny weasels going to do to you anyway? Not like you? Think bad things about you? Taunt you a second time?

Look. Learn. Accept the harsh truth.

They hate you.

They hate you.

They hate you.

No matter how you try to please them, regardless of whether or not you comply with their every command, that will never change.

They hate you. Govern yourself accordingly.

Then they attach your comment above.

When the identity politics genie crawls out of the bottle, it's all about opposing the people who hate you, isn't it? It's become so tribal that the actual policies hardly matter. I know you're speaking from the heart mate, but remember that your mates aren't the only folks watching.

A cruel and clever adversary could twist your words into an anti-semitic attack before you can blink. That's the world we live in. Unless you don't care about that in the way described above. Some lurker can pull your comment, make it viral, and paint the entire site with a certain brush among those you don't and may never personally know, and the next thing all of us who waste our time in this place are pariahs.

Welcome to the future. That's how we got Roy Moore. Just another brick in the wall.

It's amusing to see American conservatives froth themselves up into a lather over the evils of "postmodernism", which they understand more or less as the idea that "facts aren't real".

It's such low-hanging fruit that even transparently corrupt wannabe-demagogues like virgin-whisperer Professor Jordan Peterson have built lucrative cons out of it.

Yet the same "facts don't care about your feelings" whingers who bore their families to tears moaning about "snowflakes" can't help gorging their insatiable victimhood by throwing money at senile cranks like Kurt Schlichter, and by worshiping theocratic pedophiles like Roy Moore.

Could anything possibly be more postmodern (in that sense) than this?
"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters."

Ironically, these right-wing "postmodernists" have accomplished the ostensible target of their tantrums: facts are irrelevant, hypocrisy is dead. But then I suppose if they were even remotely self-aware, they never have devolved into that kind of conservative.

Oh well. Live by the sword, die the sword. We hate you, you hate us. And when the pendulum inevitably swings, there'll be much less patience for indulging you with this sort of naive sugar-coated childish bulls***

What a great story.

You know this is hilarious in itself that the one story of morality is a Vietnam story. STD's were at their peak in Vietnam because of military men taking advantage of the local services. They reckon about 95% of those who served and who survived long enough took advantage of them.

Kind of the wrong era to pick out your morale compass story.

I agree, and it seems like they are doing the appropriate “soul searching” to try to improve.

But it’s not a fair fight, because one side has absolutely no interest in being factually inaccurate, and they suffer no repercussions for this.

Trump’s lies don’t count, Breitbart’s lies don’t count, Hannity’s lies don’t count, Conway’s lies don’t count, Fox & Friends’ lies don’t count.

The only time inaccuracy seems to be punishable is when it comes from people who actually care about reporting the truth.

The media needs to realise that their old standby of “we’re not the story” isn’t going to work. They have been (unwillingly) MADE into part of the story. The MAGA/alt-right apparatus is set up to destroy the free press - or at very least their legitimacy.

That is one of the most important stories of recent years, and the coverage of it HAS to be adversarial because the MAGA crowd are trying to BEAT the free press.
Despite this, we absolutely cannot play down to their level. We need to take the high road, make sure as many I's are dotted and T's are crossed before coming with stuff, because 10 years down the road, we need to be seen as a legitmate alternative to Trumpism, not more of the same. Is it fair? No, b/c it's more blame shifting and false equivalencies, but such are the times we live in

I get what you're saying. But my point is the fact that our lying idiot president uses/lies about fake-news all the time, so it is doubly-incumbent of the media to get their facts straight. And frankly, the occasions they've messed up were pretty silly and very easily fact-checkable (such as not checking a date on when a email was sent). Their mistakes matter more now than before because they feed into this idiotic narrative regarding a conspiracy and deep state.

A case of Journalists getting to eager and ahead of themselves to prove how much more this guy is an idiot. Human nature unfortunately.

Not sure there’s any need in proving he’s a moron. There appears to be no tipping point here for those that still support him at this juncture.

Can only hope the special council and next year’s elections hollow out what power that administration can wield.

Not for one moment saying the NYT, WaPo, CNN etc should go down to their level.

However if we’re expecting journalists (respectable ones) to be 100% right 100% of the time, we’re setting up for failure. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MISTAKES. No matter how true the intention, sometimes things will slip through the net.

That’s why the fake news shout is so annoyingly effective. They shout “FAKE NEWS” over and over again... knowing full well that no matter how hard they try to be accurate, there will be the occasional mistake, and the Trumpists can shout “see?? We told you!”

Meanwhile Fox etc just refuse to admit when they’re wrong.

Sorry, i was being a little sarcastic with my comment which didn't shine through because of bad punctuation haha!! This part 'prove how much more this guy is an idiot' was the Irony of course.

I truly believe that Journos (the centrist and the left) are doing their best to one up each other by getting ahead of themselves or being to eager to print/publish.

You are right he is as dumb as it comes but because there is so much content with this guy and his administration on a daily basis coming out this sort of stuff was likely to happen.

These media types need to calm down and stay composed and report actual stuff the administration cannot defend. They will lie but there will be no defending it.

It's maddening to be sure.

This is how he is truly ****ing up our country for generations.

I would expect and accept if not like, a Republican president nominating more conservative judges than I would prefer. However, like some of his other nominations these people are unqualified and unlike the administration positions, many of these are life-time appointments.

100% agree with this

To me is one of his biggest crimes.

Continuously putting forward people who are against the group or organisation they are being nominated for and putting forward people who are way under qualified because they fit his thinking and bases agenda.

It’s one of the many reasons why I scoff at the ‘both sides are the same’ shabite.

It’s all fine and good to be able to whip people up into a frenzied mob, but at some point you need to have an endgame. The neoliberal ruling classes know this. Their endgame is actually fairly simple. Their plan is to (a) make an example of Trump to discourage any future billionaire idiots from screwing with their simulation of democracy, and (b) demonize anyone deviating from neoliberal ideology as a fascist, racist, or anti-Semite, or otherwise “abnormal” or “extremist.”

That argument is really only used by people who know Trump is a complete waste of space yet deep down they actually kinda like him.
If you're conservative and voted for Trump but now think it's not the smartest thing you've ever done, now is not the time to be blaming everyone else for the assent of Trump, now is the time to take a lead and change the heads and hearts of your complicit republican representatives.
