There’s far too much of us and them in this thread. Democrats trying to humiliate Republicans and people being demonised for where they live or the beliefs they hold. The same happens in the U.K. (see the scummy tories thread), where left wingers wage an endless attack upon other decent folk purely for a belief in what is best. These divisions of course keep the media in business, and really crap politicians employed. One day we will all grow up and get past all this.......

But its ok for you to turn every thread you comment in into a hate filled attack on the EU right? See how that works Pete?

do you know anything about Wisconsin pete? have you ever been?

what is happening there (and many places like it) is alarming for some of American's most militant, partisan conservatives

the world is heading in a very dark direction, and responding with the reflexive "but both sides!/kumbaya" routine from afar is a reflection more of ignorance than of wisdom

It was a general point, of which we are all guilty, not specific to a particular area or region.....

How about when the beliefs they hold are that voting for a guy who has credible accusations of molesting teenagers is OK so the rival party doesn’t get in?

Or voting pretty much sight unseen for a bill that they “believe but aren’t sure” won’t explode the deficit?

For me there are positions that reasonable people can disagree on - those two aren’t it.

Oh I agree, but it’s the polarisation that I find disturbing, on all sides.......

It is, but it is going down that way because we have had at least twenty to thirty years of rule across much of the West by people whose morals are at best questionable, who were all about the means rather than the ends, who have massively enriched themselves whilst leading their populations into worse economic and social positions and who in some cases openly discussed living in a post-democratic age. To make it worse, their foreign policy has been even worse than their domestic policy.

It is all well and good standing up to oppose the Trumps, Le Pens and Farages of this world but the fact is that those people would not appear in a healthy political culture, nor are that sort forever banished just because the candidate deemed acceptable by the people in charge happens to win.
