Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Of course the right of citizens to determine their own leaders is hugely important. But now we have the internet and all of the social media and news media that goes with it. The likes of Russia used to do exactly the same before the internet by funding useful idiots and socialist media. This isn’t new, it’s just a different vehicle. In respect of your Obama point, Putin did not publicly declare, via all the media, that Americans should vote for Clinton or Trump with a threat of economic and trade failure if you did. Lastly, do you think for one single moment that we in the west do not try the exact same tricks with other countries, we even do it openly via the BBC World Service.......
I disagree, you seem to think this meddling was confined to RT tv and a few Facebook ads. I do think it new as they married illegal hacking (of dnc servers and personal email accounts) with media reporting. They also tried to interfere with the election system in 21 states.

"The Department of Homeland Security notified nearly half of the U.S. states that their election systems were targeted by Russia-affiliated hackers in an attempt to influence the 2016 election. In most of the states targeted, the hackers were engaged in preliminary activities like scanning. In other states hackers attempted to infiltrate systems and failed, but in a small selection of states, with only Illinois confirmed so far, the election systems were compromised successfully."

Putin made it very clear he supported Trump but why would he make threats of economic and trade failure if Clinton won - it would likely have been counterproductive if he had tried to make too big deal of it. I also find the argument "the West try the same thing" a bit bizarre even you believe it to be true, two wrongs don't make a right and many have criticized the West for just such meddling.

My major concern isn't the past election, it is future ones and that applies just as much to UK elections Pete as it does to US ones. Having seen the success of Russian interference, and the lack of a price they have paid for it, don't you think it likely that Russia (and other countries) will increase their attempts in future? Trump dismissing it as political witchhunt will reduce the chances actions are put in place to stop it and that should be a concern to everyone, regardless of their political affiliation.

I agree that it needs to be addressed, but to be failsafe you need to switch off the Internet for a couple of months before the election or put up barriers, a la China, that stops it. However it will not stop sponsored useful idiots and their like based in the US. Personally, and I know this seems extreme, I would inform the world that any internet attack would be regarded as a physical war attack and dealt with accordingly......if you allow people to take the mick, they will continue to do it ......

You are right, that does seem a bit extreme to me, but I guess it at least that means you are taking it a bit more seriously than your initial comment suggested lol

Problem with the American health service is that it's ran like a business with high pricing for services and drugs so...

So true. When you see one of the pharmacies for large healthcare conglomerates they make billions a year and spend an absolute fortune in equipment for automation purposes to move even more drugs and make even more profits.

These companies could care less for people not their employees nor the people they sell drugs to.

I worked for one for a number of years and it was insane how little they cared about their people and how much they spent on upgrading to automated systems to replace their staff.

They also make so much money that the buy out their competitors.

Then there is the healthcare side of it where they dictate the rules and America just accepts it. How much money they put into funding politics to have their way.

Obama care was not given a proper chance in some states from the off because the companies controlling healthcare in those areas refused to play ball and wanted stipulations as they believed it would affect their profits. That's why the rest of us suffered with our premiums.
