What has he delivered on?
His Muslim ban is totally watered down, thank god.
His Obamacare replacement has failed to materialize.
His wall that Mexico will pay for?
He hasn't ended DACA, yet.
He didn't even move the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem,
He hasn't cut federal funding to sanctuary cities
He hasn't reduced the debt 'fairly quickly'
He also promised to unite the country which isn't going great
and on and on and on.

All this 'well, he's doing exactly what he said' is just spin from his team.
He did take the US out of the Paris accord I suppose

I have to say I don't think he's done little more than rhetoric but his base still lap it up , sadly .

I said delivering, not delivered.

Early days yet.

He's pushing forward on everything he said he'd do - whether successful is another matter, but my point was none of it should be any surprise.

The only surprise I have is how resolutely he's sticking to his words! I thought he'd have relented on a few...
that's fair enough. Hopefully he continues to fail miserably till he's booted out of office!

He's failed so far legislatively but unfortunately there are a few things he has delivered on by executive order or through the departments that we'll suffer from for years - Supreme court pick, slashing regulations (especially environmental and labour) and generally being more confrontational to both foreign governments and domestic immigrants. I am not sure the gutting of the state department was a campaign plan as such but it certainly seems to have been achieved.

Tbh some of his supporters even seem to think just yelling at the media is a win which is depressing as hell.

I can't shake the feeling his defining moment Isnt here yet, be it abroad or at home.
I think he will due to his ego he will attempt to write his name in the history books at some point, other than just being a president.

I was reading something about immigration. Apparently Obama was scoring a few political points off Trump and being his usual smarmy self, yet analysts say that Obama deported more than 3Million immigrants while he was in charge, more than any other President........

Probably incorrect but is a complicated story as quite a big change in deportation focus/policies even during his two terms. Anecdotally from people I talked to here in Bay Area feeling was that far fewer raids at workplaces but was harder to get across the border. But the huge change in the economy (especially the housing crisis) makes direct comparisons very difficult especially as iirc there was a change in how deportation were categorized sometime in the Bush years where if you were caught quickly on the border you were not classed in the same bucket as previous years and possibly also how repeat offenders were counted.

This is encouraging if true

My partner's mother worked on this report for the National Academy. It came out last September 2016. I've read through most of the report...it is typically very thorough and backed by tons of data.

Among the report’s key findings and conclusions:

  • When measured over a period of 10 years or more, the impact of immigration on the wages of native-born workers overall is very small. To the extent that negative impacts occur, they are most likely to be found for prior immigrants or native-born workers who have not completed high school—who are often the closest substitutes for immigrant workers with low skills.

  • There is little evidence that immigration significantly affects the overall employment levels of native-born workers. As with wage impacts, there is some evidence that recent immigrants reduce the employment rate of prior immigrants. In addition, recent research finds that immigration reduces the number of hours worked by native teens (but not their employment levels).

  • Some evidence on inflow of skilled immigrants suggests that there may be positive wage effects for some subgroups of native-born workers, and other benefits to the economy more broadly.

  • Immigration has an overall positive impact on long-run economic growth in the U.S.

  • In terms of fiscal impacts, first-generation immigrants are more costly to governments, mainly at the state and local levels, than are the native-born, in large part due to the costs of educating their children. However, as adults, the children of immigrants (the second generation) are among the strongest economic and fiscal contributors in the U.S. population, contributing more in taxes than either their parents or the rest of the native-born population.

  • Over the long term, the impacts of immigrants on government budgets are generally positive at the federal level but remain negative at the state and local level — but these generalizations are subject to a number of important assumptions. Immigration’s fiscal effects vary tremendously across states.

Don't forget his "it's a secret" plan to eliminate ISIS.
