He is just a psychopathic narcissist who has surrounded himself by gun toting, religious white supremacist nutters....he won't last long as pres IMO..

Because it shows how much of a mess the country/world is in. People who hated Trump voted for him because they actually believe he is acting in THE AMERICAN PUBLICS BEST INTEREST not just to line his own pockets or look after his own people

why ??? maybe its because he believes them people will trust him and back him. Lets see what happens we can go debating all week. But i bet you Americas a better place with him in power

The working class in the rust belt were suffering with factory closures and other factors, this is where Trump won. Over all America wasn't in a mess. Right wing media (ahem Breitbart) spent the last 8 years convincing anyone with any grievance that the whole thing was a mess, wonder why they did that.

America is not a mess, but parts of America certainly are. There are millions who are not living the American dream and they've been left behind for too long. Trump may not be the answer, but the answer certainly wasn't Clinton......

I agree. But I was given a choice between two viable candidates and Clinton was the only choice to make. I dont particularly like her but I'd take her any day over Trump. There are millions who aren't living the dream but there always has been in America, the problem now is that for the first time, the disenfranchised are white.

Finally, what if the Red Party controls the state government? The Reds know they're at a numeric disadvantage. But with some creative boundary drawing -- the type you see in grid 3, "neither compact nor fair" -- they can slice the Blue population up such that they only get a majority in two districts. So despite making up 40 percent of the population, the Reds win 60 percent of the seats. Not bad!

In the real world, this is similar to what we see in Pennsylvania. In 2012, Democrats won 51 percent of the popular House vote. But the only won 5 out of 18 House seats -- fewer than one third. This was because when Pennsylvania Republicans redrew the state's Congressional districts, they made highly irregular districts that look like the one below, PA-7, one of the most geographically irregular districts in the nation.

Now, this exercise is of course a huge simplification. In the real world people don't live in neatly-ordered grids sorted by political party. But for real-world politicians looking to give themselves an advantage at redistricting time, the process is exactly the same, as are the results for the parties that gerrymander successfully.

The easiest way to solve this issue, of course, would be to take the redistricting process out of human hands entirely. There is already software capable of doing just that -- good luck getting any politicians to agree to it, though.

(this is just an extract - the whole article is worth reading)

Frankie Boyle article for the guardian has some hilarious lines

"Trump is at war with Saturday Night Live. He thinks it’s horrible and yet he can’t stop watching. Pretty much the same as how the world feels about him. How can he expect to escape ridicule? Being on reality TV is the closest he ever got to reality. His children look like a teen movie about Wall Street vampires directed by Uday Hussein. He has cultivated a square face that’s the shade of a banned food colouring and the muscle tone of a coma patient. He looks like aliens came to Earth and made a human costume after seeing one commercial for a car dealership"

"I suppose everybody’s politics are shaped by the particular bubble they live in. Trump sees anti-choice arguments all the time; the only time he sees an argument for abortion is in a mirror"
