Apologies. The Democrats did destroy their chances when they made her their candidate. I'd imagine Bernie would've won.
Dems made several strategic mistakes. Republicans had unimaginable win and basically destroyed democrat power structure. + now Trump can nominate supreme court judge. Thats huge thing.

He was definitely a change, very anti establishment. Maybe that was downfall as he is independent and the Democrats went for one of their own.

He was doing miles better than Hilary against Trump in the polls and he had the young adults motivated and behind him in a movement. Big mistake and they realise now.

See this is the frustrating bit. Saying they voted for "a deplorable racist/sexist/homophobe/transphobe" is not calling them that.

It's same damn argument in the Brexit thread. Racists voted out. Not all out voters are racists.

It's weird eh? You think what you've just said would be obvious.

The point isn't that all Trump voters were those things; it's that his stance on various issues encouraged and legitimised those views, so those who voted for him didn't place enough emphasis on denouncing those views.

There are plenty of people on social media and indeed more
mainstream media actually calling people those things though.

Have you not been reading the pro-Clinton sides' output since they lost? For example:

Yeah but again, that's using the strawman of a perceived voting class to make the larger point - that indeed racists, anti-gay, misogynists etc. were a substantial part of Trumps' voter base.

Not all, but consider this - how many Trump supporters do you see denouncing Trump for those views? It's pretty close to "none". He says he "grabs women by the [Poor language removed]" and to a man and woman they're fobbing it off as unimportant. Therefore, whilst not racists and misogynists themselves, they are perfectly happy to turn a blind eye to those traits advocated by Trump.

Its really annoying that what he said is a bad word on our filter, cos it makes folk think that maybe you said something else. Or reports it, which will mean paperwork, a meeting, but a nice coffee and biscuit.

It depends how you interpret it. As said above, people criticising the "white working class" for their voting direction aren't saying they're all racists; they're saying that a substantial part of that group didn't give a toss about the blatant racist and sexist comments and actions of Trump.

When talking about groups of people, generalisations are often made. Think of it this way - pre-election, all pundits were saying Latinos, Blacks etc. will vote for Clinton, because they're simply more likely to. Therefore, saying the "white working class" will vote for Trump isn't saying "because they're all racists" - it's because overall they're more predisposed to simply not care about that issue with Trump.

Ah...no I haven't been reading either sides blog stuff. I thought you were suggesting folks on here were doing that.

I don't think those protesting Trump by and large are protesting those that voted for him...they are protesting the man's own words.

It becomes particularly messy when she received more votes. The people of the nation have spoken...even if they didn't do it in certain parts of the country.
