I like it, if the Court will take the issue up prior to lower court judgements being appealed up to them. I think they do so rarely - to me this is of such import they should do so. But then I'm not a justice on the US Supreme court, I just read Scotusblog and scatter my uninformed opinions around to pretend I know what I'm talking about....

It's not at all common. They've been a little more willing to do this of late than in the past.

There's precedent, in the sense that the special prosecutor U.S. v. Nixon did the same thing, using the same argument that Nixon's legal maneuvering was aimed at delaying a prospective trial.

Nope. Whoever the Democrat is will win the popular vote in landslide fashion, as they have all through the current century.

It's because of the electoral college.

Because of that, only a few states matter in national elections.

So what ends up happening is like 500,000 people across 6 or 7 states decide presidents. It's asinine

The electoral college made sense, in theory, when it was implemented over 200 years ago. However, you see how it can be manipulated as it is today.

So when you have one party that has found a way to chip away at the fringes, with a willing and able media outlet aiding and abetting that party to "otherize" the opposition party, you have what you see today - a whole number of states that live in an alternate reality, and the 50/50 states in play
