Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I think we forget that the media rubs our own noses in it all the time while ignoring most of those stories from outside America, unless they're real good stories. This is true more or less anywhere you go. It's why I have the BBC in my regular media content rotation. It helps with perspective. I have learned not to trust it fully when it comes to what is going on in Britain, but its coverage of us is quite good.

Look at it this way. We gave the world the Three Stooges. The English gave us Benny Hill. Much more recently, everyone's favorite Ukrainian ex-comedian once pretended to play a piano with his wang on their national television. Most humor is pretty lowbrow. It usually involves laughing at someone else's pain, like matty's constitutional inability to accept that relegation is merely a possibility. Fortunately, he's laughing at the moment, too.

There's a streak of petty tribalism that runs deep in human beings. It probably served us well when we lived in caves, but it quit working so well the moment we started sticking seeds in the ground so we could make booze. Most of the governments that we think "work" exist in countries whose populations are overwhelmingly comprised of a single tribe. I don't know how the Swiss do it, honestly.

that's probably all correct and fine, but nearly half of US voters want to reelect someone who admitted he assaults women because they are intimidated to speak up and then later encouraged/manfifested an attempt to overthrow the democratic process. to me this goes beyond the fact that boris johnson is a tit and teresa may probably paid for paid for her grades.

100%.

We live in a time of false equivalencies, which inherently excuses whoever is on the far end of the "worse" side of the extreme

I live in a world of causal processes, not false equivalencies. If we want to fix what's happening, understanding how we got here is the first step.

Petty tribalism just keeps us on the long downhill slide. Taking notes from the Swiss, who somehow managed to weld people from three disparate nations into a single identity, is the way forward. The people in the media and Congress on the right are your enemy. The people voting for them only are if you make them.

I still come back to what Jon Stewart said about anti-Semitism recently: we only fix that by engaging with it. That's true of everything else. The media and the politicians on the left also lie. They're usually lies of omission rather than commission, and even the Christians seem to think some of those are kosher, but they're really not. We end up in a dystopia either way.

I can't tell you that you're 'wrong' in a risk management sense to focus on the least-worst alternative, but we can't fix anything of consequence that way. We just end up spinning our wheels in the world Madison warned us against in Federalist 10. The modern filibuster saved us from that one for a while, but Reid did fire the Fort Sumter shot on that one. I can't say with certainty whether he has the blood of the women who cannot get medical abortions on his hands, since I don't live in the world where he held his fire. The conflict spiral may have already proceeded to the point where the Garland heist was inevitable.

But I bet the left packs the Court in reply in that world, so there's a good chance McConnell elects not to fire first.

@Toffee_Loaf here is my answer to all your questions...

In the appropriate thread you should explain to us how it was an 'insurrection' and not rely on hearsay. One gun does not make it an insurrection. 100 guns would not make it an insurrection. To be an insurrection they would have to use the threat of those guns to get inside the Capitol building. Yet the video will show the police opened doors and escorted people inside, even gave weird Minotaur horn man a guided walk into the US Senate itself. That we have US agents orchestrating a riot suggests that it cannot be traitorous or treasonous either - since they are the government enforcement agency! Tell us about the mystery pipe bomber too - why hasn't he been found? They can find all these hundreds of people and jail them that were allegedly there (and some didn't even go inside the Capitol building), yet they can't find that actual pipe bomber? It smells suspicious to me.

Now, back to Biden.
Thank you for admitting that you were completely wrong about insurrectionists carrying guns onto Capitol grounds. And I didn't use hearsay, I used direct quotes from, Guy Reffitt, a convicted insurrectionist.

This is wrong under 18 USC 2383: Rebellion or insurrection, which states: Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

And §2384 Seditious conspiracy states: If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

So you are wrong again, the threat of guns does not enter into these definitions.

Here is text and a screen shot of Jacob Chansley's (Minotaur man) plea deal, which he himself signed after admitting the following. So you are wrong again.

As to the pipe bomber, the latest update from the FBI is here. And not finding one criminal out of many does not mean a crime wasn't committed. So your point is irrelevant.
