Well, this will put the influence of more traditional media over our political system to the test.

During the first presidential run, Fox very firmly planted themselves in his corner and a lot of other media organizations across the spectrum dampened their criticism, because Trump was great for business. Now, even Fox has turned on him and the criticism from the left is full-throated.

Who is driving the bus on the cult of personality? Trump, or the media outlets that cover him? How powerful is Rupert Murdoch, really? Does simply 'owning the libs' by acting like an oppositional adolescent off his ADHD meds endear him to enough people to win a Republican primary?

One way or another, we're going to get an answer in the next eighteen months, unless something like all that fast food catching up to him happens.

NY post has really changed.

I suppose it allows Trump to run the “I’m the victim, I’m the outsider” routine he likes but you’d think even his fans would get tired of all the whining and he himself doesn’t seem tp be having fun with it any more.

Murdoch going against him seems big from the UK side.

Murdoch and his papers have always backed the winner when it came to general elections.

The genius of Murdoch is that the people who shill hardest for his causes are the ones who think they shun mainstream media. We have a few of them on here, but its amazing how he can make them dance and blind to their own strings. What a rotten old piece of human mould he is, will be glad when he is dead

Yeah, the big difference in our system is the primaries. Murdoch could easily get behind DeSantis, fail, switch sides to the Democratic nominee and end up backing the winner that way. Alternately, Trump could sabotage the Republican nominee in the fall after losing the primary.

It could even get really weird with three hats in the ring, and fall to the House of Representatives. We would be looking at new House delegations, and there is absolutely no telling what happens as a consequence. The resulting possible permutations of complete insanity that would make Liz Truss look like a pleasant dream are far too numerous to lay out.

The victim card plays well to his base as they see themselves as victims.

Sadly for them, they are victims of Republican policies going back 40 years. Same as the ‘red wall’ voters in the UK. Put at the bottom of the pile by the very people they keep voting for.
