Take a bow Gen. Milley
Take a bow Gen. Milley
Take a bow Gen. Milley
Woodward had the info as wellI'm sorry but screw gen. Milley.
Where was all this information at the second impeachment proceedings?
Just like John Bolton at the first.
All these people were too cowardly to stand up when it counted.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there were adults in the room. I just wish they had the courage of their convictions.
true, but he's a journalist, specifically holding the info to write a book. There was no presence, that was clear.Woodward had the info as well

The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, on the other hand, sat through an impeachment proceeding to remove a POTUS who was not fit for office, knowing full well he was not fit for office, and knowing full well he had the info to find Trump guilty. And he did nothing.
Instead he tells Woodward????

Yea, I get that. He surely weighed up the consequences, knew that his information might not guarantee a guilty verdict. But I believe there was an air of "yea, Trump is nuts but just leave it to us, we'll steer the ship home". That's not how democracies work. He knows that.If Milley speaks up do you really think it would have changed the outcome of the 2nd impeachment? I don't.
It's not like all the GOP in congress and the entire cabinet didn't know Trump was unfit.
That was probably part of Milley's thinking. Milley would just be replaced with some one like Flynn (but still in uniform).
That doesn't make it right - and worse, it's more norms broken. What's to stop someone with the political slant of say Flynn doing similar in the future.
As a custom/rule, active duty military avoid politics - especially explosive stuff like an impeachment.Yea, I get that. And if you're going to undermine the president, why not take that with you to your grave, why tell Woodward?
He could have made his info public, in the wake of 6/1 it would have led to a few more republicans finding Trump guilty and heaped more pressure on those remaining ones.
Biden was already in office for the second impeachment trial. Why release this news in September, not February. I just don't get it.
Exactly. The only people who actually “needed” to hear what Milley had to say were the very same people who would have just covered their ears and avoided listening. By January, no new information could possibly have come to light that was ever going to change ANYONE’s mind about Trump. As a custom/rule, active duty military avoid politics - especially explosive stuff like an impeachment.
Further, I agree with others. Even if called to testify to the Senate and Milley told the country Cheeto was entirely unfit and unstable the right-wing noise machine would have activated in defense of TFG and the Senate GQP would have folded.
Statesmanship is a lost concept. Especially on that side of the aisle.
