Here's my disjointed thoughts.
Trump ego has sought the presidency for years. The PR that goes with this has meant that a lot of people in his circle let him continue with it.
When it became a real thing, these people (his family/lawyers etc) went about courting anyone who might support him. Turns out it was evangelicals and far right conservatives. They built a transition team with the aim of giving these people what ever they want in return for their support.
His whole platform revolved around making these people happy which invariably meant 'owning the libs'.

So he has a core team around him that direct his policy. All they have to do is convince him their ideas are his and get him air time on Fox and Friends.
They whisper in his ear about who's not loyal and who needs to be replaced. The only thing beyond their control is his twitter account so they run around putting out twitter fires all the time.

So half his time or more is an off day, I'm not sure he delegates to anyone as I don't think he'd know what to delegate to who. He has a team who make the policy and convince him he made it and give him the final say.

If you have a person like that and you take them away from the structure that keeps them running and put them in quarantine in hospital and pretty quickly the whees start to come off. He would definitely have been making crazy ego based demands and his team wouldn't have the usual access to him to talk him around.
They wanted him back in the white house as much as he wanted out of WR hospital.

So basically a game of: 'Manipulating the narcissist, while at the same time making him think that he's manipulating you, thus giving him the ego validation that he so desperately needs?' Wow! That is Svengali levels of manipulation. But then again, this is the Republican Party we're talking about, so 'Master Manipulator' is probably a valid skill-set to have on your CV.

You can also see by the way he acts like a little puppy dog when he's with Putin... I guess that answers the age old question of: 'Who's the more manipulative between the narcissist and the sociopath'.

I'm voting for the First Amendment and freedom of speech.
- But I'm ok with unmarked federal police grabbing them off the streets.

I'm voting for the Electoral College & the Republic we live in.

I'm voting for the Police to be respected once again and to ensure Law & Order.

I’m voting for the continued appointment of Federal Judges who respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I’m voting for our jobs to remain in America and not be outsourced all over again to China, Mexico and other foreign countries.

I’m voting for secure borders and legal immigration.
- But I'm just going to ignore the gross inhumanity of separating toddlers from their parents with no plan to reunite them
I'm voting for the Military & the Veterans who fought for this Country to give the American people their freedoms.
- But I'm just going to ignore Trump calling them losers and I'll also ignore Putins bounty.
I'm voting for the unborn babies that have a right to live.
- But at the same time I'm all for the death penalty.. I'm confused.
I’m voting for continued peace progress in the middle east.
- But I'm ok with upping Obamas drone strike levels on Yemen and ignoring the Saudi assassination of an American resident journalist.
I’m voting to fight against human/child trafficking.
- But again, I'm fine with child separation
I’m voting for Freedom of Religion.
- But I'm happy to blur the lines between church and state. Constitution be damned
I'm voting for the American Flag that is disrespected by the Democratic Party.
- But I'm going to make a pair of pants out of the flag and a comfy outside picnic chair. Again, constitution be damned
I'm voting for the right to speak my opinion & not be censored.
- But I'm happy with the GOP patriot act monitoring my opinion and putting me on lists.
I'm not just voting for one person, I'm voting for the future of my Country.
