Did CNN cut away in the middle of the President of The United States of Americas speech to talk trash about him with Cooper explaining that the president’s speech was “the most recent greatest hits and false statements.” While it’s still ongoing.

TBF reporting on that convention with a ticker running underneath that read “this is the maddest sh**e you will ever see” would have been entirely appropriate.

I suppose we should be thankful that Guilfoyle and Jrs obvious beak habits mean they are less likely to create some form of coke baby.

Yeah I agree it’s up there with the maddest. And to an independent lad doing media or any show for entertainment I say have at it. But a major “news” channel piped into millions of homes “reporting” like that give me the shivers.

Calling lies lies IS objective.

Allowing lies (especially from someone in a position of such power) to air unchallenged/unrefuted is massively irresponsible, and media companies doing exactly that is how we find ourselves in the state we're in.

Had exactly the same problem with Brexit. 99% of economists thought Brexit would be an economic negative (I'll refrain from using the word "disaster", but that's what most thought), but the BBC had 1 pro and 1 against economist on every panel.

Balance for balance's sake is BS.

If Trump was doing a speech on the sky and they cut it off and told the viewers ‘it’s all lies.’ Even though he went on for an hour about the sky some of it was ill informed, some was true and some was subjective. Even on the perceived lies from CNN your audience has to make their own mind up.

Even though trump lied in my opinion, just like any other president granted much craper lies and more frequentlyof what he said is true and a big proportion was subjective.

They always cut him off and it’s for their own agenda. It’s not News. Sure if you go onto YouTube half the time they cut him off over the years is the moment he starts trashing CNN. And when he is telling the truth about them. Or at least being subjective about them.

But it wasn’t objective journalism what they do or what they did for the RNC speech.

And you know I don’t like Trump if I had my way I wouldn’t have him cut off the air I’d have him pulled out of office by the scruff of the neck and abolish that system.

You shouldn't tell people that, matey, it's biased. You should let people make up their own mind. Though you might not like the impression they get.

Saying "the sky is red" when it's blue isn't subjective, it isn't ill-informed, it's a lie. When Trump says there are massive amounts of voter fraud or that absentee voting is somehow different from voting by mail, or that hydroxychloroquine is an effective treatment for COVID, or that injecting "disinfectant or light" into the body might cure it, or any one of over 20,000 things by the last count I saw... it's not opinion, it's not subjective, it's lying.

Which would all be fine, except that he's the President, and when you hold that office, and outright lie to people - PARTICULARLY in the times we're in - those lies can literally cost people their lives (as has demonstrably happened), or cost a population their democracy.

It is ABSOLUTELY right to call out these lies. If you think otherwise, you're part of the problem, and part of the reason the world finds itself in the situation it's in now.

Oh and for the record, the same would be true with any other President - all of whom have said things that weren't true, but none of whom were so entirely and frequently detached from reality as the current incumbent.
