I'm in a bad place lol. I have too many people who are talking about Trump like he is the messiah and said how Obama, he of 4 years ago and with 0% ability to change anything these days, was the anti-christ and bs like that. Also other crap I'm not in the mood to share.
I just am so tired of the people who use faith to both explain their actions and waive away the consequences. The hostile btw isn't meant towards you or most people, I'm just past the point of caring of what hurts someone's feelings when you call them out on their beliefs. People can believe and say what they want, doesn't mean they are immune from being called out from being incorrect or just straight up lying.
This is an accurate description of where far too many people are right now, mate.
It's fine to have policy differences or preferences for focus on this matter versus another matter that is most important to the other side. Yet that sort of honest politics simply cannot happen when a rather large swath of the country denies science, denies truth, and has no real philosophical core. And that rather large swath is encouraged to deny these things by select media, religious and political leadership. If one looks at approval polling from August of 2019, when COVID-19 was unheard of, and look at today's approval polling, after COVID-19 has killed 175,000 Americans, 15 million people have lost their jobs, unemployment is at 12%, we teeter on economic depression and the POTUS' biggest concern is water pressure thru a showerhead - the polling numbers are virtually identical!! How the F is that remotely possible in a sane country?
I get the frustration. I live in Texas, for goodness' sake. My best to you on the matters you aren't sharing. In the meantime, know there are loads of us out here working to change the political landscape. I have no hope whatever it is going to be easy but do have hope when you are in a better place you will join us. Fired up and ready to go.

On that note, that's my biggest issue. You can disagree on the specifics but when you argue against blatant truths and literal facts, how are you even supposed to respect those people? My best mate was alllll about the "migrant caravan" leading up to 2018. I asked him about it a bit over a year ago and he just blew it off as "you just don't know what I know". How are you even supposed to be civil in those cases when literally the truth is subjective in their mind?

Because evangelicial christianity is 1st and foremost a hardcore right wing political movement. It always has been and it always will be. Sure there are a few true believers and sure you'll find a bit of Jesus but he ranks well below the list of priorities such as tax cuts for the rich, racism, mens rights and SEC football. You aren't going to get these people to change by reading bible passages, because they care @#$%-all what's actually in the book, the book is just a prop to hide behind.
For all their faults I've been in enough catholic churches in my day to know that for the most part catholics are middle of the road, keep their religion largely private (in the usa - other countries where they have a outsized presence they start meddling in society) and at the very least acknowledge that poor people + minorities aren't subhuman as bashing immigrants won't fill the pews (its not this cynical but its definitely a reason). the center of catholism is the northeast and midwest cities which despite having larger white populations than the south vote blue. So the good news is that the clergy/catholics are largely private here. The bad news being that the narcissist #$%#stains and racist bootlickers like Santourm and Pence are the only ones in the public eye.
