Nasdaq, DAX, FTSE, etc, they generally have correlation. Nikkei was always the odd one out.

These days, less so. Merica seems to be the oddity now. Gold prices are climbing though, the last refuge for the dazed and confused generally.
It’s not ‘america’. It’s fangs. The market is incredibly thin and if you were to take those 5 or 6 companies from the index you would see that the US would more or less track the rest of the world.

Those companies are seeing accelerated growth at the moment for obvious reasons but it’s more or less just those companies (Facebook, Apple, alphabet, netflix, Microsoft and Tesla) and not the broader market.

there’s loads of theories why. Obviously Covid has accelerated secular growth that was already happening.

but also things like low interest rates are thought to favour growth companies (as more of their cash flows are in the future) and so they benefit more than companies whose cash flows are weighted closer to the present. The US market is dominated by growth companies. The U.K. market is the opposite and dominated by ‘value’ companies.

Is it though? Who does that convince? All it does is say to his followers (who aren't leaving him anyway) "YOU'RE RIGHT!"

(also, that video is 7.5 months old, so it doesn't seem to have been money THAT well spent)

(also 2: It's interesting that they used audio that's over 3 years old. I suspected it wasn't recent, because he sounds significantly more coherent. It was from Liberty University in May 2017)

Also a reading a speech not extemporaneous.

Far be it for me to be any kind of barometer, but this year it's been the UK that has stood out. My US, Chinese and European stocks have all done okay, but UK not. It's almost like we're about to do something very silly or something.

It is honestly beyond me how anyone can watch that and think "Yeah, THIS is the guy I want running the country."

Unbelievable.

First question and answer sets the tone AMAZINGLY well.
JS: "I've heard you throughout your life talk about the mantra of positive thinking. To what extent do you think that mindset is suited to handling the worst pandemic in a century?"
DT: "I think you have to have a positive outlook, otherwise you would have nothing."

Not gonna argue with you there, Donnie.

Oh my god. That guy just making him look like a complete idiot. Not that it's difficult, but you don't see Trump as exposed when he's talking to American reporters
I started watching it. Got 12:30 in and decided I need to break it up into more digestible chunks, or either my brain was going to start leaking out my ears, or I was going to put my fist through a wall.

You ever get that feeling of embarrassment by proxy? Like watching the office or something like that. It's just so difficult to watch
