Know it is anecdotal rather than data but saw an interesting comment from someone who said their Facebook group, usually Trump supporters to some degree or another, had had quite a negative reaction to his comments. Not to the obvious racial dog whistling, they were sadly OK with that, but to the sneer on “low income” and general class-war feel to it.
If social housing won't be in the suburbs, where would it be? Surely inner city real estate would be much more expensive?
Exactly and the mad thing is dopes like him building for the rich in the inner city is why nearly all of the poor and minorities moved to the suburbs to begin with. Rich developers gentrfying the traditionally poorer areas.
I suspect he refers to not building within current suburban areas thus lowering their value and prestige, and he instead means probably building them further away.
Here in Merseyside for example, you've got the history of when Kirkby and Speke etc. were built by the Liverpool Corporation and families simply shifted out.
It didn't really work here in terms of social cohesion.
