That's probably true. I'm more liberal on social issues, I just tend to be fiscally conservative to a point. I'm not anti-taxes or against all government spending. Just as far as the spectrum goes I'm probably a little bit more conservative.

The democratic party is not liberal at all. Sure there is a small liberal wing, but they are marginalized and have little power. The only thing Obama really did that I guess you could call liberal was federalize some lands out west for preservation. That health care law was Mitt Romney's/Heritage Foundation's plan. sure obama raised taxes, but it was only on income on the top 10% and only around 3-6%. the rich didn't care either because where the real money is made, dividends (15%) and capital gains (20%) taxes remained absurdly low. Not to mention you can write off capital gains losses.

As far as the republicians go, they just run up deficits passing out corporate welfare when they are in power and leave others to clean up the mess. This is when they suddenly turn into deficit hawks.

America essentially has a right wing and a center right party and has done for quite awhile. Maybe since Nixon, I'm not really sure. Before the GOP ran wild it was center left and center right after FDR. We haven't had anything approaching liberal in this country in a good one hundred years, so it is no wonder that so many people are losing their minds over the stuff Bernie brings up. Fortunately I think the young people are able to look at things objectively enough and not go nuts because something is labeled socialist or whatever.
