It's weird that an entire area, with more people than Vermont or Wyoming and that ranks 1st in GDP per capita (when compared to other states) would have a system where its citizens pay taxes but don't have any federal representation.

As to whether they would be Dems forever is far from clear, though the city (like most urban voters) is highly Democrat. DC Republican party is in support of statehood, it's only at the national level where it is opposed by Republicans.

and it's only opposed by Republicans because they're putting their party ahead of the country as is their want.

The bottom left one is COMPLETELY unfair. As recently as a few weeks ago, he so badly wanted to go to church that he had a group of peaceful protestors tear gassed so as to expedite his arrival there.

No. A pardon means a clean slate; absolved of whatever crimes you committed.
Commuted just means a lesser sentence. I assume in this case no jail time. He is still a convicted felon.

Which would probably be a prosecutable offense, or at minimum an impeachable one, had similar acts by Clinton and W. not been shrugged off. I'd be inclined to argue that the precedent was set by H. W., who probably helped himself bury some political skeletons by pardoning Weinberger et al.
