As I've said before; the bar for quietly whisking him away under the 'Definitely away with the Fairies' Act must be set awful high in the US.

The executive order against attacks upon monuments is expected to be retroactive and applicable against anyone who's participated in a protest where violence occurred, which suggests its intent has little to do with the preservation of monuments and much to do with creating a mechanism to facilitate the arrest of protesters generally.

Will they try to say the Veterans Memorial Preservation Act applies to destruction of Confederate statues as well? It shouldn’t, but they’ll probably try to say it does. Here’s the pertinent text from the law....
‘‘§ 1369. Destruction of veterans’ memorials
‘‘(a) Whoever, in a circumstance described in subsection (b), willfully injures or destroys, or attempts to injure or destroy, any structure, plaque, statue, or other monument on public property commemorating the service of any person or persons in the armed forces of the United States shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.

I for one am SHOCKED

I dunno, was he not just telling a lame joke when he said that? I mean if there’s evidence that he actually did then that would be damning but jumping on these sort of off hand comments helps no one.
Even if he was “only” joking, behind every joke there is some element of truth. Sure, he may not have explicitly told someone to test fewer people, but you can be damn sure he thinks it would be better for him if that happens. For Christ sake, he wanted to keep people confined onto a cruise ship sitting in port simply so the infected people on board wouldn’t count towards the US’s numbers.

For sure but if you’re a trump voter or a swing voter, you’re not gonna pay that ad much attention as it be easily dismissed as him joking.

Yesterday, the WH spent the day saying the POTUS was kidding.

Asked specifically about it this AM by a CBS reporter, the POTUS said, "I don't kid."
