The best part is Flynn wasn't even under investigation originally. The NSA told the FBI about him because they heard him while listening in on calls from Russian nationals where he was on the other end. It wasn't even the shady part of the NSA but the part that does what they should do that caught him. And he admitted to it.

Only they had more than enough to impeach him, as he was guilty as charged. Only the Republican dominated senate was always going to clear him, irrespective. They made this easier for themselves by banning actual witnesses.
